What do you do when your co-actor occasionally violates your action-effect expectations? Our new paper shows: You repeat your goal choice - but only when your co-actor mostly follows your lead. ☝️
Procedure:
Learning block --> Co-actor always continues ppt's target movements.
Test block(s) --> Co-actor continues ppt's target movements in 50% vs. 80% of the trials.
E1: 1 test block (between-ppts).
E2 & 3: 2 test blocks (within-ppt).
E3: Co-actor changes between blocks.
Key takeaway: Action selection is modulated by anticipating the effects of others' actions.
