Today is the Third Form Ancient Olympics Day!
The Upper Sixth Form A Level Latin students visited the High Court in Edinburgh this afternoon to see how modern court cases compare to those of Cicero’s time, which they are studying.
Third Form students challenged Miss McDonnell to a competition reciting Latin noun endings. Well done Leo S and Donald C! (sound on 🔊)
Well done to A Level Latin student Romilly B who gave a talk with Fox B-J on the history of French, focusing on its Latin influences.
We had a lovely evening with the Fourth Form Classics students - pizza and a quiz. Well done to the winning team!
Our 4th Form CC enjoyed a trip to the National Museum today to practise analysing ancient sources. So pleased that we can make the most of Edinburgh's cultural offerings within a double lesson!
Well done and thank you to Belhaven Hill students for finishing off this fabulous Medusa mosaic, which was started on the Prep Schools Classics Day. optime!
The L6th A Level Latin students put their artistic skills to the test to draw their impression of the naval battle on the Fucine lake, according to Tacitus.
Lower Sixth Form A Level Latin students used Virgil’s vivid description of the snakes coming to attack Laocoon in Book 2 of the ‘Aeneid’ to create their own illustrations.
Wishing ‘fortuna optima’ to our 3 Classicists attending interviews @Cambridge_Uni this week! @CamClassics

Fantastic time last evening in Edinburgh, presenting on Cicero's Verrines at @Fettes_College, where Head of @FettesClassics Clare McDonnell organized a superb event, with guests also from Strathallan, St George’s, Edinburgh Academy & more. Deeply impressed, indeed moved by it all

For me, a great honor and an absolutely fantastic evening from start to finish!
We were delighted to welcome Professor Corey Brennan from @RutgersU to talk to the Classics Society last night about Cicero vs. Verres in 70 BC. It was great to have students and staff from local schools join us.

Zeno’s Paradoxes explained expertly by Mrs Smith! Lots of good discussion and ideas at Paramecium this evening.
Great to see former Classics student Eliza, now studying Latin and French at Christ Church Oxford.
They're back!
At 8.30pm tonight on BBC Two our #UniversityChallenge team will do their best to beat @EmmaCambridge to the buzzer. Good luck to Arthur Wotton, Eliza Dean, Melika Gorgianeh and Elliot Lowe! #MuChChLove
