The only fitting punishment for the industrial cheating is banning Man City and all associated and potential successor entities from professional competition •forever•. If this were a say FTSE 100 company, people would have been arrested already. #Citeh #Cheats #114 #Guilty
Manchester City have been found guilty of “sham payments” and artificially inflating their revenue by more than £900M ($1.19B) in a verdict reached by an independent regulatory commission investigating more than 100 charges levied by the Premier League. nytimes.com/athletic/7643269…

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.

I blame @easyjet for the FOUR HOUR delay to my flight which means I’m probably going to miss the first half of the #Panama vs #England match.

As @paulmasonnews points out, bond markets do not and will not “fall into line” with governments. It’s frightening that some Labour MPs think this will happen - no one tells their mortgage lender, what to do for example. Ditto with bond markets.
In the name of public service, and as ex-economics editor of BBC Newsnight, I offer to do a zoom call, tonight, with any Labour MP who wants to understand why bond markets do not "fall into line" with governments. 1/

Bloody hectic start to the morning: early doors dog walk; prepared breakfast for Baby Bear and then took him to daycare; then hoped on a motorbike to go to emergency reshoots for a Channel 4 series. Now in the car on the way into work at the Telegraph. Feel exhausted already!

The Pope is right to say that the world is being ravaged by a handful of tyrants . Let me fill in the list of culprits: Putin, Trump, Netanyahu, and whoever is now in charge of Iran. Without their aggressive actions, the world would be a better place.

*returning, not retuning. My son hit send before I could proof read it. The moral of the story is don’t rely on Siri’s voice dictation and don’t let your toddler grab your phone!

Trump has insulted and tariffed his European allies, persuaded Denmark to prepare for a US invasion and, by pressuring Ukraine and not Russia, encouraged Putin to keep fighting. All of which he has forgotten. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0…

And just like that, seven months have gone and I’m now an ex-PR. I’ll be returning to journalism - my calling - in April. I can’t wait to get started.

For people who switch careers and leave journalism, it goes one of two ways: they move on and never look back, OR the pull of the news business drags them back. I’m the latter.

Brent crude around $105/bl today. If sustained, this will mean £1.60/litre for petrol - with motor fuels raising inflation directly by around 0.6pc. Adding the effect of higher transport costs for business, UK 2026 inflation likely to be 1pc+ higher than pre-Iran war forecasts.
