Grim did not laugh with him. He watched the performance—the bitter smile, the weary tilt of his head, the dramatic sigh. All the lovely distractions Cillian used when the truth came too close. Then the Fae spoke of magic. Something cold entered Grim’s expression. “I am Lust.”
He laughed, and it was bitter and cold. Because Love absolutely kills him. And he knew it. He looked up at Grim, his green eyes as ancient as he felt. "You're wrong, I didn't survive it last time, it did kill me, I'd be dead if this thing wasn't holed up inside of me still. I'm

“A relic may explain why you crossed the world to reach my door.” His gaze drifted briefly toward Cillian’s mouth. “It does not explain why you took my hand once you arrived.” He stepped back at last.

"Morgan." He repeated it once, low and deliberate, as if fixing it somewhere in memory. At her answer, the corner of his mouth turned upward. "Both." Grim took another slow drink, eyes settling on her with a little more interest now. "That can be dangerous."
She took a long sip as she spoke, deciding that it was only polite to offer her name as well. Especially since he bought her a drink. "I'm Morgan. A pleasure to meet you. And... both, I suppose." -

There was no warning in his tone. If anything, it sounded like approval. He leaned back against the bar, giving her room despite the weight of his attention. "But I have always thought a little poor judgment makes a long week easier to survive."

His gaze flicked toward her glass, then back to her. "So tell me, Morgan . . ." A pause. "How adventurous are you feeling tonight?"

"I don't mean to linger too long but-- you're beauty is simply breath taking . . ."

Grim watched him fold beneath the weight of his own confession. The flinch should have satisfied him. It did not. His hand slipped from Cillian’s chin. For once, he did not use the closeness between them as a weapon.
In a very uncharacteristic move he flinched and averted his eyes at the too true acquisition. He knew he'd given Grim too much of himself before. Far more honesty than he he should have. What was worse was that there was a part of him that knew it had been mutual. He knew more

The word felt strange in Grim’s mouth. Too human. Too honest. “You did not leave because we might destroy one another. You left because I had become capable of hurting you—and you had become capable of hurting me.” His gaze hardened.

“And instead of trusting me with that truth, you chose for us both. You abandoned me and called it mercy.” Grim stepped back, finally leaving Cillian free to move from the door. “But you came back.” His eyes searched the Fae’s face. “So tell me . . . what changed?”
