Day 4 of Movember. Hopefully these effed-up election results don't turn my beard Santa Claus white. Y'all keep the faith. You are all smart. You are adored.
Hold on to your butts. They didn't even need a Trojan Horse. We just welcomed 'em in.
At least 37 Muslim candidates won or led in races in the November 3, 2026, US midterm elections (as of preliminary results on November 4), according to Muslim Network TV.
This includes:
8 heading to Congress (1 Senate + 7 House)
About 27 in state legislative races
2 in judicial or county offices
Key Congress results
Abdul El-Sayed (D-MI) won the open U.S. Senate seat, defeating Republican Mike Rogers. This makes him the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Senate (confirmed by projections from Reuters, CBS News, AP, Decision Desk HQ, and others).
House re-elections: Ilhan Omar (MN), Rashida Tlaib (MI), André Carson (IN), and Lateefah Simon (CA).
Other House wins/projections: Adam Hamawy (NJ-12, first Muslim member of Congress from New Jersey), Darializa Avila Chevalier (NY), and Aisha Wahab (CA, full term after a special election).
Many other sources reported at least 7 Muslims elected to Congress, consistent with the broader MNTV count of 8 (including some races still resolving).
Broader context
Roughly 51 Muslim Americans were on ballots nationwide (across ~23 states), mostly as Democrats. State-level examples include Aber Kawas (first Palestinian Muslim woman elected to the New York State Senate) and Nabeela Syed (who flipped a Republican-held Illinois State Senate seat). Some races remained incomplete with ballots still being counted.
These figures come primarily from Muslim Network TV (which tracks candidates confirmed or widely reported as Muslim via groups like CAIR and Emgage, plus news), cross-checked against major outlets on the high-profile Senate and House races. Numbers can shift slightly with final certification.
