Standardized tests have no place in elementary education. Because testing becomes the focus of education instead of learning. We take away the fun and excitement of learning, playing, exploring, & creating. We create test takers instead of problem solvers and innovators.

A student came to me after seeing another student earn a reward for finally following directions in music class and said, “Sometimes it feels like when you’re always good, you need to try a lot harder to get noticed at school.” I will never forget this. And I promise to notice.

Third graders are designing solutions to slow down erosion and protect their lighthouses.

The thing people often don’t talk about in teaching is how much of it is a performance. No matter what’s going on in your life you stand up in front of those kids and perform and if you’re ill or something challenging is going on in your personal life, that’s exhausting.
