Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Our airport! What a mess they have got themselves into. Back in 2022, @olivercoppard said at a public meeting he had neither the power nor the money to buy the airport. Yet the Gainshare funding and powers had been provided by the Conservative government. And in August 2022, Aviation Minister Robert Courts wrote to him explicitly urging him to consider the public ownership model used at Teesside. So what was missing then that makes a purchase possible now? In 2024, just before Oliver’s re-election (coincidence?), @MayorRos approved what was, quite simply, an appalling lease with Peel. In 2025, her manifesto promised to reopen our airport by 2026. Now it’s 2026. Still no open airport and, millions of pounds later, the @SouthYorksMCA board papers say the necessary lease changes could not be secured. So poor was this lease that, without changes, SYMCA would not release the funding. The proposed solution? Buy the airport. Officials at both authorities told the @DonnyFreePress it was "categorically incorrect" to say the lease renegotiations had failed. Unfortunately, somebody forgot to tell the people writing the board papers. Meanwhile, the usual suspects are clapping like performing seals at a water park. All we need now is somebody throwing them a fish. Before the next round of applause, somebody should ask the obvious Yorkshire question: HOW MUCH? Nobody seems to want to. Hardly surprising when the same council sycophants have dominated the town for decades. So I will. How much? I also ask: how can you negotiate a good price when you're stuck in a lease you're trying to escape? Reform, meanwhile, are taking the glory for what many of us said four years ago: buy the thing. But they, too, are applauding before they know the deal. They backed the £57 million borrowing, sought to reverse it, then backed it again. Labour's leaders are inept. Reform appears not to have a leader at all. So where are we? No passenger flights. No freight flights. No controlled airspace. And, in my view, no convincing plan. What we do have is officials posing for photos and two mayors who want to spend our money. And, as I often say, "Spending money is easy. Earning it is the hard part." Build a business with your own money and mistakes come out of your own pocket. Here, they come out of ours. Our mayors have never built their own businesses, just spent our money. And it shows. The people of Doncaster deserve better. It is our money, and we will all live with the consequences. I want our airport open. I want holidays abroad not freight flights at 2am and our Gainshare money gone for decades. I want leaders who do the right thing for the right reasons, not for their own careers. Sadly, I think we will all be waiting for a long time. #NotFitToLead

OLIVER AND HIS TOURIST TAX Oliver Coppard @SouthYorksMCA proving once again that he has no idea how business works. Why would he? He’s spent his career in politics. Now he wants a tourist tax to “bring us into line” with other places. Oliver, why would you tax something you actually want people to do? We WANT people to visit South Yorkshire. We WANT them staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, drinking in our pubs and spending money in our shops. Our hospitality businesses are already being hammered by rising costs and taxes. The last thing they need is another tax making South Yorkshire more expensive to visit. And let’s be clear what this really means: more money for politicians to spend on their pet projects, while businesses across the region they are supposed to support struggle to survive. All while Oliver continues to take home a six-figure salary. You don’t help businesses by making it more expensive for their customers to come here. South Yorkshire deserves better. #Notfittolead

In case you missed it, Doncaster’s Labour MPs really excelled themselves last week. Three of our local Labour MPs, Sally Jameson, @LeePitcherMP and @JohnHealey_MP, voted against an amendment that would have prevented puberty blockers being prescribed to under-18s for gender dysphoria. Three Doncaster MPs. Three votes against protecting our children. For all those across Doncaster who voted Labour, I hope you will think twice next time around. #notfittogovern

If We Don’t Defend Our Christian Heritage, Who Will? The King is Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England. Yet the latest Sovereign Grant report now describes him as protecting “the space for Faith within the multi-faith nation.” My question is simple: if nothing has changed, why change the words? If something has changed, we should have a national debate about it. We won’t lose our Christian heritage overnight. We’ll lose it bit by bit. Whether you are a Christian or not, this country and our freedoms have been profoundly shaped by it. Yesterday on BBC Sunday Morning Live, I argued the case for our Christian inheritance. Please don’t be afraid to do the same. Trust me, it’s worth saving. Full episode in the comments below, our discussion starts at around 37 minutes. @bbcsml

Say No to Pride I know many of you may think Pride is needed. I know some of you think it's just a bit of fun. I know some of you are planning to go because you believe it's the kind thing to do. But I believe it is anything but. Why? Because Pride is associated with: • Puberty blockers for children. • Biological males using girls' and women's toilets and changing rooms. • Biological males competing in women's sport. • Drag queen story time for children. • Sexualised themes from the bedroom being paraded through our city centre streets. Say no to Pride in Doncaster and in any village, town or city that chooses to celebrate it. There are no excuses anymore. We have all seen the division it has caused, and I have personally seen the pain that some of those issues have caused. There is no sitting on the fence. There is no going along "just for a bit of fun." Either you condemn these things, or you support the movement associated with them. Choose wisely this Saturday. If you want to support people, be kind to them, but don't feel you have to go to Pride. You don't. I believe the safety, fairness and future of our women and children depend on the choices we make today. I say again: choose wisely and say no to Pride.

Imagine you’ve just become the CEO of a struggling company. You only got the job because confidence in the previous CEO had collapsed. In your first two weeks, you offer a few gimmicks but set out no credible plan to deal with the major problems facing the business. Then, instead of rolling up your sleeves, you pack your bags and head off on holiday. What do you think would happen to the company’s share price? Exactly. At a time when the country continues to face illegal migration, pressure on public services, weak economic growth, a youth unemployment crisis and a host of other challenges, the Prime Minister has decided now is the right time to take a holiday. I’ve said it before: socialists don’t care about our country; they only care about holding power. By the time they leave office, there’ll be nothing left of GB plc. Enjoy the break, @andyburnham. And if you send us a postcard, perhaps fill it with a few ideas for fixing Britain. On second thoughts… you’re a socialist, so perhaps it’s best not.
Former Tory MP Nick Fletcher slams Andy Burnham for jetting off while Britain faces a spiralling migrant crisis. "Our Prime Minister going on holiday within a fortnight is absolutely disgraceful when the country is in the state it's in." @TVKev @Fletcher4Mayor

I've been saying this for a long time, so it's encouraging to see Kemi making the same case. Growth comes from backing enterprise, rewarding hard work and creating the conditions for businesses to succeed, not from ever bigger government. A great piece, and well worth a read.

From the pit village of Armthorpe to becoming one of the greatest footballers England has ever produced, Kevin Keegan never forgot his Yorkshire roots. England captain, inspirational manager and a true gentleman of the game. He made his village, Doncaster and the whole country proud. Rest in peace, Kevin. You'll never be forgotten. ⚽💙

So terribly sad to hear this news. I only had the pleasure of meeting Ann once, but she was a genuinely decent and kind person. She will be remembered by many as a true servant of our country. Rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

“Don’t Do God,” They Say… Sorry, but This Video I Just Had to Share. I have often heard people say, "Don't do God" when you're a politician. Personally, I think that's one of the reasons we've lost our way. Perhaps that's also why I don't post more often about my Christian faith. But I felt compelled to share this. In just a few minutes, it captures the very heart of the Gospel better than almost anything else I've heard. If you're already a Christian, I hope it encourages you and reminds you why your hope is in Christ alone. If you're not a Christian, I'd simply ask you to watch it with an open mind. You don't have to know the Bible or understand Christianity to grasp its message. One line has stayed with me: "The man on the middle cross said I can come." That is the Gospel. Trust me, none of us are too bad to be saved. Equally, none of us are good enough to save ourselves. Salvation isn't about what we have done; it's about what Jesus has done. I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch it. It may just change your life. It certainly changed mine. youtube.com/shorts/sPi58Oe40…

250 Years. One Remarkable Story. Today marks 250 years since the birth of one of the greatest nations the world has ever known. Strong foundations always help, and America was built on much that came from Britain: the Christian faith, law, liberty, language, and a belief in ordered freedom. But what the United States has achieved in just 250 years is still nothing short of remarkable. The future is never certain, but I pray that the USA will continue to thrive, guided by strong Christian men and women, just as it has been throughout much of its history. I’m sharing my favourite video of 2025, one I’ve watched many times. (In the comments below 👇) Happy 250th birthday. God bless America. 🇺🇸

The Forgotten White Boys of Britain Yet, another report telling us what many of us have known for years. Politicians pretend they care, yet too often dismiss or ridicule anyone who dares to say that white boys and men need support too. The report refers to the "white working class" more broadly, but in doing so it skirts around the real issue. The greatest educational and social challenges are being faced by white working class boys. If we are serious about solving the problem, we need to be honest about who is being left behind. We need strong, resilient men every single day. They build our homes, keep the lights on, defend our country, protect our streets, respond to emergencies and keep our infrastructure running. But if we keep telling boys they are the cause of all the world's problems, that they are useless, that we don't need them, and if we shame them every time they speak, we should not be surprised if many lose interest, end up on the wrong path, and lose hope for the future. Our boys need encouragement, purpose and positive role models, not constant blame. If we want good men tomorrow, we have to start believing in our boys today. We also need a Minister for Men and Boys. Not a token appointment, but someone with the authority, determination and courage to stand up for our boys and young men, especially those from white working-class communities who have been left behind for far too long. No more reports. We already have a cupboard full of them. What we need is action, and we need it now. Link to report in comments below 👇 #MinisterForMenAndBoys

Many Won’t Understand, But We Have to Create Warriors I know it’s hot. But it’s hot in many workplaces. It’s hot in our hospitals, our police stations, delivering your mail, emptying your bins, on countless building sites across the country, and for carers going in and out of people’s homes looking after our loved ones. Of course, where temperatures become genuinely unsafe, sensible precautions should be taken. But if we want our children to grow into resilient adults, they also have to learn that life isn’t always comfortable. We can’t teach them to give up and go home every time it gets a little too hot or a little too cold. I know this won’t be popular with everyone, but if we want a strong future for our country, it starts by helping to build strong, resilient people. This short clip sums it up far better than I ever could. I referred to it in one of my speeches as an MP, and I hope it resonates with you as much as it did with me. 🎥 youtube.com/shorts/1IDE17Xfm…

Giving Something Back Having had the privilege of serving as an MP, I am always happy to share that experience with the next generation. Politics affects us all, but Parliament and Westminster can seem confusing from the outside. If any schools would like me to come in and explain how our political system works and answer questions, I would gladly give up my time. Democracy is strongest when young people are encouraged to ask questions, hear different opinions and make up their own minds. I would be delighted to help in any way I can. 📧 [email protected]
