The Blitz changed our city
It took the lives of many Coventrians and today I’m thinking of them and their families.
However, I’m also reflecting on our city’s reaction and how Coventrians embraced peace when it would’ve been so easy to hate.
Today is the 84th anniversary of the Blitz.
We remember the heartbreak and devastation that the air raid caused our city, but we also remember how our city rose from the ashes of that devastation to become a city of peace and reconciliation.

Honoured to represent the Lord Lieutenant & lay the wreath on behalf of @WMLieutenancy at the Coventry memorial service. Thousands of people attended to pay their respects & the whole community was represented in a beautiful service “We will remember them”
Such a beautiful Coventry Freemen civic service today & I was delighted to represent @WMLieutenancy alongside Freemen of the City, councillors, Lord Mayor Mal Mutton and Lord Mayor‘s cadet, @HighSheriffWM24 and many others including many members of Holy Trinity community.
Two @BablakeSchool @BablakeHM former pupils awarded « freeman of the city of Coventry » at @coventrycc today. An honour for those ago have served an apprenticeship in the city & served 5 years in the same city. Focus on community & service @petxitraining

Despite proven errors and wrong conclusion, we still have govts implementing austerity in the false belief their finances are like a household, that taxes fund govt spending, and public debt is somehow "unsustainable". Austerity is counterproductive and genuinely kills people.
Inspirational EDI training for us today @petxitraining - Building trust and making everyone’s voice equal. Thank you so much to our governor and role model @keithfraser2017

At last! #OFSTED is making changes to the brutal and unhelpful one word grading thanks to #Ruthperry’s family fighting for reform. A much needed change for committed teachers who dedicate so much to young people👌🙌
