People that have never read any of Marco Rubio's essays since 2011 to now should give them a brief look. Specifically his speech in 2012.
Beyond having sensible opinions about domestic policy, what stands out are his opinions on the western hemisphere.
The current US push against Venezuela is only barely about drugs, and only slightly about the border.
Its actually about ALBA (Bolivaran Alliance), a group founded by Venezuela and Cuba and is essentially an anti-US trade alliance with a leftist slant. Through ALBA; China, Russia, and Iran have managed to increase their influence in the western hemisphere considerably.
Rubio speaks quite a bit about ALBA and the need to counter it even back in 2012.
Rubio's ultimate goal for the western hemisphere is for a group of democratic countries, trading and thriving peacefully with little influence from China and others outside our sphere.
We're obviously very far from that. Narco-traffickers control large swathes of several countries. Chinese investment is rampant in lending schemes centered on gaining access to infrastructure in the western hemisphere. Destabilized regimes causing waves of economic migrants to travel up and down the Americas in an informal manner. ALBA trades with Iran and China through sanctioned vessels flying false flags.
Rubio's dream of a Pax Americana in the western hemisphere should be obvious. Any excuse to pressure Maduro and potential regime change in Venezuela advances us pretty significantly towards that, while the blockade also harms Cuba significantly and destabilizes leadership as well.
Beyond that, Columbia, Nicaragua, Dominica, and a number of islands in the Caribbean are current members of ALBA. Of note due to several recent elections Ecuador, and Bolivia have left ALBA or been suspended from ALBA.
Our stance against Venezuela, and several other countries in the Western Hemisphere is not random, nor is it an accident. Rubio has been speaking about his own vision for a renewed Monroe Doctrine and he's finally in a place to do it as Trumps Secretary of State.
Unlike nation building in Afghanistan or Iraq (impossible), the Americas are peimarily based on Greco-Roman style democracies inherited from colonial Spain. We're not asking for a dozen tribes to agree to an alien style of government within a country that was drawn aebitrarily by colonial Britain and France.
We'll be asking primarily European descendants in Venezuela to vote for a new leader. Many will say Maduro lost the last election and refused to step down. Even the UN asserts something fairly close to this. But that doesnt matter, ultimately, might makes right. Maduro flexed his strength and rolled the dice, he won. Now we are doing the same.
I'm willing to bet that not only do we win, but if given enough time, Rubio actually can enact his vision for a renewed Western Hemisphere.
Pax Americana will redefine the Americas.

Decades of unchecked fraud, kickbacks, nepotism, and bribery turned H1-B program into a mafia like syndicate. 73% Indian, 11% Chinese.
Top talents from other countries are literally banned from the competition.

βOf course thatβs your contention. Five minutes ago you had Priam convinced the horse was an offering to Athena, and now youβve got half of Troy saying thought of it themselves. Give it an hour and theyβll be arguing that dragging it inside was the obvious choice. By tomorrow theyβll think itβs the smartest thing theyβve ever done.β

When my mother first moved to Japan, she tried to jaywalk while pushing a stroller on an empty residential street. She was immediately stopped by an old, well dressed Japanese man who solemnly told her in perfect English "the downfall of society begins with the individual"
