Guessed correctly by @Sara_Wear & @CatLodge1 (on a roll!) Today's answer is Coventry! I recorded this 'Conder' trade token last month. You can just make out Lady Godiva on horseback on the obverse and Coventry's symbol: Elephant & Castle on the reverse Issued: AD 1797 WMID-B7258E
Today's #ExploreLocalPlaces A place where you can get married in the remains of a Medieval royal palace owned by Edward, The Black Prince. It also has a Medieval Guildhall considered one of the finest in the country. On the outskirts of this place is a reconstructed Roman Fort.

Guessed correctly today by @TimSapwell & @CatLodge1 the answer is.... Cannock. Check out this beauty...a polished Neolithic axehead, found in the Cannock area when a garden pond was being dug out. Record: WMID-F1D2CD @StaffsWMFLO #FestivalofArchaeology #ExploreLocalPlaces
Today's clue to a #localplace in the Midlands. This town lies just over a mile north of Roman Watling Street, now the A5. An Iron Age hillfort lies just under 5 miles due east from the town and nearby is a large AONB once a royal hunting forest for William the Conqueror.

Well done @CatLodge1 yesterday's location was Kidderminster 👍 A halfpenny token was discovered nearby and was issued by Walter Thatcher, a clothier in the town in the 17thc. A shuttle is depicted on the obverse that is used on a loom. Record: WAW-067C95
Today's clue to a #localplace in the Midlands celebrating #FestivalofArchaeology A museum here is dedicated to something the majority of us will have in our home. A canal and river pass through the town, the latter enabled the cloth industry to develop here in Medieval times.

Answer: Uttoxeter. Well done @piers_allan This hoard of 82 silver coins dates to the Civil War period at a time when more hoards than usual were hidden for security. This Uttoxeter hoard is recorded with @findsorguk also features in @StaffsWMFLO 50 Finds book Record: WMID-867514

Answer is Dudley as guessed correctly by @david_ulke Whilst we may associate Dudley with its Medieval and Industrial past these Mesolithic microliths discovered in the area remind us that the area has been occupied and manipulated for many thousands of years. Record: WMID-F06E58
Replying to @FloMidlands
Clue to place one: It has a castle, it is in an area linked to a revolution and is also the place where the anchor was forged for a very famous ill fated ship... Answer is?

#FindsFriday thrilled to record this Anglo Saxon Small Long brooch today. Dating to the 5th-6thc. We don't see many of these in the West Mids so it makes a pleasant change from the Roman brooches, although I love those too. Beautiful decoration on the head and foot WMID-32D014

#GoodFriday #FindsFriday #eastereggs Not such a tasty Easter treat, instead a lead egg shaped weight. The date is uncertain, most likely for a steelyard which mainly date to the Roman or Medieval periods when steelyards were used as weighing instruments finds.org.uk/database/artefa…
