So, "Duck & Cover" practice sessions at Mt. Vernon Elementary School were of no benefit, but made us feel secure😊. Pretty sure Dad, an Electrical Engineer at Naval Research Laboratory in D.C., knew better, but🤫didn't tell us so we wouldn't be frightened. youtube.com/watch?v=2OcggbLV…

It’s time for a constitutional amendment to reform the pardon power. Trump has turned it into a pay to play debacle and a shield for his corruption. No more.

This is totally dishonest. The White House didn’t work with Pope Leo XIV on securing this temporary ceasefire. Leo XIV was involved with this for months. Even while he was in the hospital recovering from lung cancer surgery, he called Putin and then Zelenskyy. The pope wasn’t a supporting actor. He was the protagonist.
Melania Trump tells me she spoke to both Zelensky and Putin about the Ukraine ceasefire: “We talked. We signed the agreement.” She thanked Pope Leo for his support and didn’t rule out a trip to Ukraine. POTUS said she’s doing better than his advisers.

The Flintstones really slipped a clever geology joke into a cartoon, and most of us probably never noticed. The Grand Canyon was carved over millions of years, primarily by the Colorado River, so showing it as a tiny stream in the Stone Age makes the joke even funnier. It’s amazing how much thought went into some of these old cartoons, especially the jokes that went right over our heads as kids. Did you catch this joke growing up, or are you just now realizing how clever it was?

In 1945, an American soldier crept into a German position and stole roughly 50 horses from the Nazis. As he escaped on horseback, he sang a traditional Crow war song while German soldiers opened fire. He wasn't just fighting for America. He was completing an ancient warrior tradition passed down by his ancestors. When he returned to Montana, his people declared him a war chief. This is the story of Joe Medicine Crow..🧵1/5

I came into the Foreign Service under Ronald Reagan, served under every president, even a few months under Donald Trump. NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE, ever asked me who I voted for or doubted my "fidelity" to my country. They don't want professionals, they want political hacks.
SCOOP: The State Dept has started asking career diplomats up for promotion if they voted for Trump in 16, 20, 24. Federal law prohibits politically based hiring for career staff. State tells @washingtonsun it's screening for "fidelity" and execution of the president's vision👇

2008, but still, and this aviator already had his wings!
In 2008, while deployed at sea, the crew of the USS Harry S. Truman found a eurasian screech owl hiding in the wheel well of an F-18 hornet. The owl was recovered and nicknamed "Fod", an acronym for "foreign object debris".
