This game is for fans of old-school shooters like Duke Nukem, Soldier of fortune, Max Payne, F.E.A.R., Serious Sam, or even Shadow Warrior.

If Unreal is vibecoded, then no point in using & pay roaylities to Epic. Just ask AI to generate you an entire new Engine (youtube prove it kinda works), and don't forget to ask Claude to "inspire" from UE5. This way you've your own free Unreal-like!

Too much AI talks atm.
There are problems for lawyers, others for analysts and critics but it's about games and having fun.
AI companies are pooping on every one, do you really think we could get a voice about what happens?
It's not just because nobody give a shit of the industry in medias.
It's also as we're too fragmented. We've some local organisations, associations, but it's not enough to influence things, whether for or against AI.
Xbox/Nintendo/Sony are maybe the ones who will give a new perspective if they prohibit or accept it.
My bet is that they will just let the money flow, and won't block big companies in the process. Fact is that account managers in exchange with studios are already influencing directors to drive the final cut.
We're on a raft without a sail or rudder. Just enjoy the tempest and cross fingers.
Urgency & importance classification should be top 1 organisation of your video game project.
Weekly review based.
We spent so much time working on thousands of seemingly insignificant details to make this game good.
We thought about how every leaf should move, how leaves affect each other, how light passes through them, how they scatter when the character lands... Sometimes we'd spend days on a single animation. There were nights when getting something to finally work kept us awake, and times when nothing went as planned and we deleted everything and started over in tears.
We probably spent over 1.000 hours playing our own game just to make the character feel both responsive and smooth.
Then we started letting people play Leafborn for the first time.
They didn't care about the leaves. They just said the game felt good. They didn't even notice most of the details we'd worked so hard on...
4 sec later, they started beating up robots and didn't stop until the game was over.
All those things we'd spent days working on didn't really matter to them.
That's when we realized that we could spend an entire week thinking about a single detail, and the player would experience it for a few seconds and move on.
I guess that's one of the hardest parts of game development. Something that matters so much to you can be just a few seconds of someone else's experience.
Steam reaction:
Tim Sweeney is criticizing Valve again over Steam’s requirement for developers to disclose their use of generative AI.
The Epic Games CEO called the policy “abhorrent,” arguing that developers are being forced to make a “political statement” that could be used against them by a “hate mob.”
Sweeney has been criticizing the policy since 2025, previously comparing the disclosure to a “Scarlet Letter” and arguing that AI will eventually be part of almost every game production process.

It baffles me how many people in Next Fest do not have their social media, website and/or Discord servers linked, very hard for creators to find you this way.
Mid IPs are 💸💸💸
Big IPs are 💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸
Marvel or Disney are 💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸[...]💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸
(Was working next to licensing team 👀)
Not only this, but Bethesda and Xbox signed a contract with Disney/Marvel for the Blade project, and if the game is cancelled and Arkane is shuttered, not only will Microsoft have to pay out extended severance, they will ALSO likely have to pay Disney and Marvel a large sum for violating/shredding said contract.
Also, this idea that Microsoft and Xbox have been the ONLY ones footing the bill for this game is ludicrous, as evidently Disney and Marvel poured some of their own money into the project as well. Microsoft is out here acting petty like they can no longer afford this game when they just purchased Kojima’s PHYSINT and spent untold hundreds of millions on Gears of War: E-DAY.
Nintendo Switch eshop is moving ???
The cart and selection from web is different on Nintendo of Europe 🤯🤯🤯
