I woke up this morning and had to tell my shortie how important Solange is to me. Like deadass. She understood. Felt good to get that off my chest.
Truly fascinating to me how you can succeed at this high of a level and people act like it never happened. Or better yet, know it very well did and still try to downplay / discredit it after the fact.
Can’t wait to see where all this lands in the next 5-10 years. Game cooked rn

The reality is most artists don’t actually want the responsibility of having to invest in themselves, build a business, and be fully accountable for all decisions made. They won’t have anyone to blame when it doesn’t work. Too much liability and good help isn’t cheap.
Why tf would any artist sign a 5 album deal for a $100k advance in 2026 when brand deals, bank loans & crowd funding exist?
Wake up. These people in these buildings do not know how to break your single. They take that marketing budget and go contract someone your age to execute the campaign. Might as well get rid of the middle man and own your art.
At some point we gonna have to appoint our own heads of state. Align our efforts, commitments and DOLLARS. Not to be anti but to be established and intentional. Are we willing to uplift our elites and are they willing to invest in proper systems / infrastructure?
We won’t ever really be on anything if we don’t own anything. No matter far up the ladder you climb, you’re a glorified work for hire if it’s not your shit fr.

I’ve been talking about this for years.
Black music cannot thrive without investment, and it cannot thrive when the people who understand the culture are not inside the buildings where decisions get made.
Only in music / art we have this expectation for things to find success without marketing investment. Literally every product in the world pays to advertise in order to increase visibility and ultimately sell.

Gotta balance the “vision” with the ability to actually reach an audience after the fact.. – at Manhattan, NY

Spend money on what makes you money. Glossy music vids don’t sell records in 2024. $$$ amount spent does not equate to creativity nor impact. At this point expensive visuals are a luxury that should come only after you’ve actually generated profit. Don’t dig an unnecessary hole.
