WATCH TILL END! People are celebrating and distributing sweets after learning that Muskaan Rastogi and her lover, Sahil, have been sentenced to death. And understandably, it is a moment that many consider worth celebrating.
But will Muskaan actually be hanged?
Let’s look at what history tells us.
In Maharashtra, two women, Renuka Shinde and Seema Gavit, kidnapped and murdered around 13 children during the 1990s. They were sentenced to death, but in 2022, the Bombay High Court commuted their death sentences to life imprisonment.
In Karnataka, a woman named KD Kempamma committed several murders between 1999 and 2007, targeting women and stealing their jewellery. She was sentenced to death in two separate cases in 2010 and 2012. However, the Karnataka High Court later commuted her death sentences to life imprisonment.
In Andhra Pradesh, a woman named Ediga Anamma murdered a mother and her child in 1971. Both the trial court and the High Court sentenced her to death, but the Supreme Court later commuted her death sentence to life imprisonment.
Then there is Shabnam from Uttar Pradesh. In 2008, she murdered seven members of her own family with the help of her lover. She was sentenced to death by the lower courts, and the Supreme Court upheld the death sentence. Her mercy petition was also rejected by the President. However, there has still been no confirmed update regarding her execution.
So, what do you think? If Muskaan appeals to the higher courts, is there a possibility that her death sentence could be commuted to life imprisonment?

A shocking murder case has emerged from Hunsur in Karnataka’s Mysuru district, where a 30-year-old woman, Pavithra, and her alleged lover, Sunil, have been arrested for allegedly murdering her 35-year-old husband, Rama Prasad.
According to media reports, the incident took place on October 16 at the couple’s residence in Vinoba Colony, Hunsur. The couple reportedly had two children, an 11-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter.
Police suspect that Pavithra allegedly mixed crushed poisonous datura seeds into idli batter and served the food to her husband. When he did not die after consuming the food, she allegedly called Sunil to the house, and the two are accused of strangling him.
Investigators reportedly believe that the alleged motive was Pavithra’s relationship with Sunil, which had allegedly led to frequent disputes between the couple.
Following Rama Prasad’s death, Pavithra reportedly told his brother, Chandrahas, that her husband had eaten curd and was later found unresponsive. The family initially treated the death as natural and performed his last rites.
However, suspicions arose after local residents reportedly shared information about Sunil’s presence at the house on the night of the incident. Chandrahas subsequently approached the police on October 20, seeking a thorough investigation into his brother’s death.
According to reports, findings from the post-mortem examination also raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the death. During the subsequent investigation, police questioned Pavithra and Sunil before arresting them in connection with the alleged murder.
Both accused have reportedly been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues. The allegations against them remain subject to judicial proceedings.
A shocking incident in Kolkata’s Behala area has sparked widespread outrage after a young man and his father were allegedly assaulted, stripped n@ked and forced to walk through the streets over the family’s opposition to their relationship.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the Basundhara Park area under Sarsuna police station limits.
According to police & local reports, the woman’s family allegedly caught the couple together and confined the young man inside a house, where he was assaulted by the woman’s father and maternal uncle.
The situation reportedly took an even more disturbing turn when the young man’s father was summoned to the spot.
According to preliminary police findings, the family allegedly handed him a firearm and threatened him with a horrifying ultimatum: either sh*ot his own son or walk naked through the streets.
The father and son were subsequently allegedly stripped and paraded in public. The young man’s friend was also reportedly assaulted and subjected to similar humiliation.
A video purportedly showing the incident circulated on social media, triggering anger among local residents.
The incident also led to tension in the locality, with some angry residents allegedly attempting to vandalise the woman’s house. Police intervened to bring the situation under control.
Kolkata Police arrested three people in connection with the incident, including the woman’s father and maternal uncle. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
The incident has raised serious concerns about violence, coercion and public humiliation arising from relationship disputes. Disapproval of a relationship cannot justify assault, threats or taking the law into one’s own hands.

Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla, who were sentenced to death for the murder of Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, have approached the Allahabad High Court challenging their conviction and the death penalty awarded by a Meerut court.
The duo were convicted on September 30, 2026, and sentenced to death on October 14.

According to reports, the victim, Rajkumar, married Preeti in 2004, and the couple welcomed a son the following year. Rajkumar later discovered that his wife was allegedly involved in a relationship with Yogesh, who reportedly began staying at their house.
Tensions escalated after Rajkumar got a DNA test conducted in 2011 to establish whether he was the biological father of their son.
The test report reportedly indicated that he was not the child's biological father, triggering further disputes between the couple. Rajkumar also had disagreements with Yogesh over his relationship with Preeti.
On the night of February 10, 2019, Rajkumar was allegedly attacked with sticks and other weapons, sustaining severe injuries to his head and chest. He died at the scene. His mother subsequently lodged a police complaint, leading to an investigation into the murder.
During the investigation and trial, the DNA report, witness testimonies and medical evidence played an important role in establishing the case against Preeti and Yogesh.
A third person, Babbi Lal, was initially named in the case but was reportedly excluded after investigators found insufficient evidence of his involvement.
After examining the evidence, the Additional District and Sessions Court found Preeti and Yogesh guilty and sentenced both to rigorous life imprisonment, along with a fine of ₹1 lakh each.

A 23-year-old delivery executive, Sameer Hussain, died on October 20, 2026, after allegedly consuming poison following a confrontation with a customer over a torn ₹10 note in East Vinod Nagar, East Delhi.
According to media reports, the incident occurred on October 4, when Sameer went to deliver a coffee order to a customer, Rampal Singh, aged 65. Sameer alleged that after waiting for the customer to arrange payment, he was handed a torn ₹10 note.
When he politely requested that the note be replaced, an argument allegedly broke out.
Sameer claimed that he was subsequently slapped multiple times and humiliated over his financial background by the customer and another man, identified as Rakesh alias Bunty, aged 30.
Following the incident, Sameer reportedly recorded videos describing his ordeal and expressing concerns about whether he would receive justice.
As per reports, despite repeated complaints by him, police took no action.
He allegedly consumed poison on October 5 and was admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where he remained under treatment until his death on October 20, a day before his 24th birthday.
Police have arrested both Rampal Singh and Rakesh alias Bunty. Following Sameer's death, police added Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to abetment of suicide, to the case. The investigation is ongoing.
The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about the dignity and safety of delivery workers, who deserve to be treated with respect while earning an honest living.
A torn ₹10 note should never become the reason for a confrontation that ends in such a devastating loss.

A video featuring a Kolkata couple enjoying Durga Puja pandal-hopping with their son has recently gone viral which is winning hearts online.
However , several women allegedly posted derogatory comments about the husband’s appearance, baldness and financial status.
One social media user described the man as someone who had “failed at life,” while another questioned his looks, hairline, physique and height.
Another comment suggested that his wife had settled for a “below-average-looking, bald man,” arguing that she could have had a better life.
The remarks triggered a debate across social media, with many users criticising the comments as body-shaming and class-based humiliation.
Supporters of the couple questioned why a family’s seemingly happy moment had become an occasion to judge a man’s physical appearance, financial circumstances and perceived success.
One user wrote- "This is what feminism has taken away from you!"
Several netizens also pointed out what they viewed as a double standard: men are often criticised for judging women by their looks, yet similar scrutiny of men can also be normalised online. Some users expressed the view that such behaviour contradicts the principles of equality and mutual respect associated with feminism.
The controversy has reignited a broader discussion about online misandry, unrealistic expectations of men and the tendency to measure a man’s worth through his appearance, wealth or social status.
A man’s worth is not determined by his hairline, height, bank balance or conventional attractiveness. And a woman’s choice of partner should not become an excuse to humiliate either of them.
Respect and equality must apply to everyone. Body-shaming and personal attacks do not become acceptable simply because the target is a man.

The Rajasthan High Court has upheld a divorce decree granted to a husband, ruling that a prolonged refusal to have physical relations without a valid reason, coupled with threats of suicide, can amount to mental cruelty under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
The case involved a couple who married in 2018. The husband alleged that his wife refused to establish physical relations with him and threatened to consume poison and end her life. According to him, they had not had physical relations since October 25, 2018, and had been living separately.
The wife denied the allegations of cruelty and claimed that her husband quarrelled with her over minor issues, pressured her regarding her employment and demanded a share of her salary. She also sought the restoration of their marital relationship through legal proceedings.
In February 2024, the Family Court granted the husband a divorce on grounds of cruelty and rejected the wife's petition seeking restitution of conjugal rights.
Challenging these decisions, the wife approached the Rajasthan High Court.
A division bench of Justice Munnuri Laxman and Justice Yogendra Kumar Purohit examined the evidence and referred to Supreme Court judgments concerning mental cruelty in matrimonial disputes.
The High Court held that, in the circumstances of this case, the wife's prolonged refusal to have physical relations without physical incapacity or a valid reason, along with threats of suicide, amounted to mental cruelty under Section 13(1)(ia) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
The court dismissed both appeals filed by the wife, thereby upholding the divorce decree and the rejection of her petition for restitution of conjugal rights.
The ruling highlights that mental cruelty can be a ground for divorce for husbands as well as wives.
However, such cases are decided on their specific facts and evidence; a refusal of physical intimacy does not automatically amount to cruelty in every marriage.

A wife murdered her husband, who was 12 years younger than her, with the help of her lover in Unnao. She then wrapped the body in a bedsheet and blanket, locked it in an iron box, transported it in a pick-up vehicle and dumped it by the highway.
After an investigation, police arrested the woman, her lover and two others on Wednesday, solving the murder case.
It emerged that on 20 October, Neha had hired the pickup for ₹1,200 to vacate her rented room and move her belongings to another place.
When police questioned Neha, she confessed to killing her husband with the help of her neighbouring tenant, Jitendra. The involvement of Tauheed and a minor in disposing of the body also emerged.
Seven to eight years ago, Neha (42) came into contact with Sonu, 30. The two later got married. They also have a five-year-old son. Sonu worked in a private job.
Sonu and Neha often quarrelled and physically fought after their marriage. As a result, Sonu became addicted to drugs.
Meanwhile, Neha began an affair with her neighbour and tenant, Jitendra alias Rahul, 42. Rahul lived in the rented accommodation with his wife.
Neha and Jitendra then conspired to murder Sonu. On the night of 19 October, they attacked Sonu on the head with a grinding stone, leaving him covered in blood.
After the murder, Jitendra contacted his acquaintance Rajesh Gupta, who owned a pickup vehicle. A pickup was arranged to deliver goods to the location specified by Neha. The body, placed in a box, was then transported in the pickup.
Khushboo, Neha's neighbour and a tenant, said Neha and Sonu had been living as tenants in Kishan Lal Yadav's house for about a month. They often quarrelled.
Khushboo claimed that Neha had earlier tried to attack Sonu with scissors. The two had quarrelled two days earlier as well.

A woman planned her husband's murder with her lover, handed him sleeping pills to mix with her husband's liquor and sought WhatsApp updates as he carried out the killing.
She planned everything from the route he should take to avoid CCTV cameras to the sleeping pills he should mix with her husband’s liquor.
She also sought regular WhatsApp updates as her lover carried out the killing. The motive, police said, was to eliminate her husband and move to Dehradun with her lover to start a new life together.
The woman, identified as Urmila and her alleged lover, Sikandar, have been arrested in connection with the murder of her husband, Pramod, whose body was found near a tubewell in his field on October 18.
According to police, Urmila and Sikandar had developed a romantic relationship and would meet secretly at hotels.
However, after Urmila’s son learnt about their relationship, Sikandar stopped visiting her house, though the two continued to stay in touch over the phone.
On October 18, Urmila called Sikandar to her compound and handed him two sleeping pills, instructing him to mix them with Pramod’s liquor.
As Pramod started becoming intoxicated, Sikandar tried to knock him down. However, Pramod resisted, prompting Sikandar to hit him on the head with the liquor bottle repeatedly, police said. Even after the bottle broke, he continued striking Pramod with the broken glass.
Sikandar then dragged Pramod’s unconscious body to a sugarcane field about 20-25 steps from the tubewell. After confirming that Pramod had died, he left the spot and went to watch the Ramlila performance.
Urmila kept asking Sikandar for updates over WhatsApp, according to investigators. After he confirmed the killing, she told him she would block his number and contact him herself if needed.
