Mourners had gathered to bid farewell to a member of their community when the attack unfolded. Jordan’s security director confirmed the casualty figures, with 27 of the wounded still receiving medical treatment at the latest briefing. Jordan’s Interior Minister Mazen al‑Faraya described the shooting as a terrorist attack carried out by a group of extremists.
