gonna post a thread of the Rivendell Lego set. Took a break for a while because doing Lego with a sling became too hard. so some of these are older. Fun way to keep track of progress

well “the” truth is a Person, Jesus Christ. He is also the Wisdom of God. Because of this, He purifies our sense of truth rather than the other way around. And will take whatever is good, true, and beautiful of any other religious tradition, including Buddhism. Since the world embodies the “seeds of the Word”, the wisdom of Buddhism that is true will find its fullness in Christ.
of all religions, it is Buddhism that is probably the wisest; no idea why Christians/Catholics have a fixed idea that they, only they, possess "the" truth. (& do they act upon this truth? practice charity?) just seems silly.

Please pray for our pastor, Fr. Tim MacDonald, who found out he has stage 4 melanoma with a cancerous tumor in his skull causing mobility problems. The tumor is bleeding and growing. He needs prayers desperately, as does our whole parish. This young man has been a blessing to us.

In the age where person and office are so integrated in our mindset, the recent papacies of Leo and Benedict doing real distinction between person and office is a healing balm to the world.
Criticism of Pope Leo’s decision to vote mostly boils down to the argument that Robert Prevost, the man and private citizen, no longer exists. But is that the case? pillarcatholic.com/p/pope-le…

Pondering out loud: but wondering if we need less “instant takes” (I include myself in this) and more theologically informed responses to Catholic and world events. Because the Catholic position must always consider an event in the light of the whole Truth

Add to this that instant reactionism creates a new mindset whereby we achieve instant likes, hits, etc, but do not contribute to forming people in the Truth that is greater than us and always crucifyingly purifies us.

Kinda weird how my study of Ratzinger has led to me having theoretical considerations about the nature of daylight savings time changes and how they affect our sense of time and history

The prequels were meh but this was the best fight sequences of the entire Star Wars series
So, for the past 24 hours, there’s been this stupid debate about the quality of the Star Wars prequels. It’s important for you to understand that I’m not even a fan of the saga. As a child, I only watched it once or twice, and I didn’t feel any urgent need to show it to my own kids. But how can anyone watch a scene like this and say, "Yeah, these movies were total crap..."? These films served their purpose perfectly: to entertain and move young boys and teenagers. And this particular scene comes from the worst of the three! Stop being so snobbish, seriously. Besides, Revenge of the Sith is a popular masterpiece; people have been making memes about it for 20 years. Do you really think a completely terrible movie could have that kind of staying power?

fake. so tired of this fake stuff. it is missing the entrances, the construction on the glory side is missing, no cranes, no fence blocking off all entries, etc.

This is so Ratzinger coded!
Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

JUST IN: Palmer Luckey's genetically modified military dog startup, Warhound, comes out of stealth, aiming to create enhanced canines for the U.S. military.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This is NOT Palmer's company at all, his company Anduril is only supplying the tech for the dogs, and this is a wholly owed Collosal entiity x.com/palmerluckey/s…

Ive not yet seen “You Can See Everything“ yet. But I think what makes Holmes so intriguing is not her psychology, but rather her soullessness. Her haunting stare exists because she is someone who has no real self. Instead, her life is governed by what people tell her to be. 1/2
To me there’s one very obvious reason Elizabeth Holmes doesn’t seem to understand what she did was wrong in You Can See Everything that I haven’t seen anyone mention and it’s not because “her mind works differently” it’s because a lawyer told her never to admit guilt on camera after a court orders you to pay $452 million in restitution if you were ever hoping to get it reduced.

I think Fielder’s film intrigues in part because of this. It is difficult to interpret because she embodies the deception we encounter daily with AI: it talks and writes as if it were ensouled, but fundamentally every output is a calculation. (I mean she is soulless poetically)

Blessed Fulton Sheen is coming back — as an AI hologram. Bishop Louis Tylka (@bshplou) wants visitors to be able to interact with and learn from the legendary Catholic broadcaster, who died in 1979 and was beatified in September. 📷 Watch the full episode, link in reply.

This is ridiculous. Notre Dame is a great Catholic institution! The vibrancy of faith there is unlike anything ive encountered. Not to mention they have perhaps the best Theology Faculty in the English speaking world.
.@NewmanSociety has released its 2026–27 #NewmanGuide, with 71 more recommendations than last year. But not #NotreDame. Notre Dame can be found in the Guide's FAQ, with an explanation why it has never been recommended: "At the time there were faithful professors and students on campus (and there still are). But there were also clear examples of opposition to the faith from many on campus. In order to resolve our dilemma, we spoke with the late Dr. Charles Rice, a faithful Catholic and long-time law professor at Notre Dame. He helped us find the bottom line. He said that at Notre Dame, 'a kid who is struggling with his faith will sink like a stone.'" There are, of course, remarkable exceptions -- like @alexathallow, whose own struggle with faith eventually led to the creation of @HallowApp. But that doesn't diminish Charlie's warning. Notre Dame can be an extraordinary place for students who are sure-footed in their Catholic faith. For those looking for a thoroughly Catholic academic experience, the #NewmanGuide is a tremendous resource. cardinalnewmansociety.org/th…
