Israel did not create the rainstorms hitting Gaza. But it made sure that the people there have no shelter.
Gazaโs first winter storm hit this weekend. Within 12 hours at least 70,000 tents had flooded.
The UN, EU and World Bank put housing destroyed or damaged at 76.6%. The UNโs housing rapporteur says 92%. He called his report โDomicide.โ
OCHA, November 5: Gaza needs about 121,000 tents. The UN has about 2,800 inside. Timber is โbeing rejected by Israeli authorities.โ The Shelter Cluster says tents and tarpaulins are โlimited to one day per week.โ 5,000 mobile homes from Egypt and Qatar are sitting at the Egyptian border, per the Times of Israel.
Gaza Municipality says whatโs left of the drainage can carry about 20% of the rain โunder the best circumstances.โ
COGAT says more than 20,000 tents went in during one month and cites โgenuine security concerns that Hamas could exploit certain components.โ Even on its numbers, thatโs a fraction of what the UN says is needed.
The Israeli policy is that Gazans should have no shelter. It makes them more liklely to die or leave.

This is the type of shit that happens countless times a day and goes unreported outside the WB. Then, when the village is buried under a mountain of waste and residents are forced to burn it, settlers will accuse them of air pollution and occupation will crack down even harder.
Israeli occupation forces confiscated a tractor used for waste collection in the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah, and handed it over to settlers.
Under the protection of Israeli forces, the settlers dumped the waste the tractor was carrying at the entrance of Al-Mughayyir Boysโ School, in yet another attack on Palestinian property and village facilities.

I admit that I completely broke down today. I cried uncontrollably. I couldnโt hold myself together after witnessing what I saw with my own eyes.
Today, we went to film a journalistic report inside the displacement tents along the seashore. I swear, what we witnessed was beyond what any human being should have to endure.
I saw men crying bitterly. Men I had never seen cry when they lost their children or when their homes were destroyed. Today, I saw them crying because they were powerless to do the simplest thing: protect their children from the water and the cold.
We spoke to families who told us they had spent the entire night carrying their children in their arms after floodwater covered the floors of their tents and soaked their mattresses. They couldnโt find a single dry place to put their children. They couldnโt even give them a few hours of sleep.
I saw children no older than five, without proper clothes to protect them from the cold, without heating, and without a dry place to sleep. Children shivering inside tents that cannot keep out the rain, protect them from the wind, or provide even the most basic sense of safety.
What more must happen for this world to act? How much more suffering must people endure before someone remembers that they are human beings?
I am sick of this world. I am sick of its hypocrisy and empty slogans. To hell with a world that talks endlessly about human rights while leaving children to drown inside their tents. To hell with everyone who has witnessed this suffering and chosen silence, and to hell with the governments and institutions that have the power to act but continue to turn their backs on us.

Israeli forces demolished five residential buildings containing 12 apartments in Biddu, northwest of occupied East Jerusalem, on Thursday, displacing 105 Palestinians. Soldiers fired tear gas and stun grenades at residents and prevented families from retrieving their belongings.
โFive or six bulldozers suddenly showed up without any warning, notice, or notification,โ Ahmed Abu Eid told Drop Siteโs Mutasem Sqf ElHait. When residents said their lawyer had told them the demolitions were prohibited, soldiers responded, โForget the lawyer. We're going to demolish it. That's final.โ
Ghazi Al-Sheikh, whose home was also demolished, said the families had received only stop-work orders, not demolition orders, and that their court cases were still ongoing.
โI told the soldier, โI've posted documents on the door of my house of the ongoing court case.โ He told me, โWe don't follow court orders, and we don't wait for the courts. We're the army. We come out and demolish.โโ
โAll of this is meant to put pressure on us, surround us, and forcibly displace us. This is their long-term policy,โ Al-Sheikh said. โBut God willing, we'll remain right here, on top of this rubble. If not us, then our children. We're not leaving.โ
โOur homes are no more important than the homes of Gaza. They've wiped Gaza entirely. Are our homes more important? No. I swear to God, they're not,โ he added.

Ten Commitments That Could Truly Transform Israelโs Relationship with America
Excellent tweet, But if you genuinely want to repair Israelโs standing in the United States, What Israel needs is not a better public relations campaign. It needs a fundamental change in policy.
Here are ten commitments I would encourage you to make publicly that will really make a change in DC:
A. Israel cannot and should not permanently occupy another people. The occupation is not a sustainable national strategy. It undermines Israelโs democratic character, its international legitimacy, and ultimately its own security.
B. I extend my hand in peace to the Palestinian people. I recognize their right to self-determination and am prepared to engage in serious negotiations toward a political settlement that guarantees security, dignity, and a better future for both peoples.
C. I will not pressure the Trump administration into launching another costly and ultimately unsuccessful military campaign against Iran. After two rounds of fighting that failed to achieve their central strategic objectives, it is time to rethink our approach. Preventing a nuclear-armed Iran must remain a priority, but another war without a realistic political endgame is not a strategy.
D. Arab citizens of Israel are equal citizens, with equal rights and an equal stake in the country's future. I will not hesitate to work with their elected representatives in the Knesset, and I am prepared to consider including Arab parties in a governing coalition if we can agree on a common political agenda.
E. My vision is an Israel defined by prosperity, security, and peace, not endless territorial expansion and permanent conflict. Israel will not permanently occupy Gaza or annex the West Bank. I will work closely with President Trump to fully implement his peace plan in a manner that benefits Israelis, Palestinians, and the broader international community.
F. Israel has no ambition to determine who governs Lebanon or to occupy Lebanese territory. Once Israel's legitimate security requirements are met, we will withdraw to an internationally recognized, secure border and work toward a sustainable security arrangement.
G. The same principle applies to Syria. Israel has no territorial ambitions in Syria and no desire to dictate who governs Damascus. Our objective is a secure border, enforceable security arrangements, and long-term regional stability.
H. I will make rebuilding Israel's relationships with Egypt and Jordan a strategic priority. These peace treaties are among Israel's greatest diplomatic achievements. Let me be absolutely clear: neither Jordan nor Egypt is an alternative homeland for the Palestinian people. Israel will not support forced displacement or policies designed to transfer Palestinians into either country.
I. Israel should aspire to a relationship with the United States that is increasingly based on mutual investment, innovation, and shared strategic interests rather than dependence on American taxpayer assistance. I will propose a joint US-Israel investment fund to advance major initiatives in artificial intelligence, advanced technology, energy, and scientific research, generating tangible benefits for both societies.
J. I will deliver precisely the same message to European leaders. Israel wants to rebuild trust with its European partners through responsible policies, respect for international law, renewed diplomatic engagement, and a genuine commitment to peace.
+
Israel will fight terrorism in all its forms, without exception or double standards, including Jewish terrorism and violence against innocent Palestinians. Terrorism is terrorism, regardless of who commits it. No individual or group will be above the law, and those responsible will be held accountable. The rule of law must apply equally to everyone..
The bottom line:
If you want to restore bipartisan support for Israel in Washington, rebuild trust with younger Americans, and reverse Israel's deteriorating international standing, you must first confront the policies that helped create this crisis.
The problem is not that Israeli politicians are failing to explain themselves effectively in English. The problem is what they are defending.
You cannot continue supporting permanent occupation, settlement expansion, endless wars, and the political exclusion of Arab citizens while expecting American public opinion to move in your favor.
Israel does not need a better salesman in Washington. It needs a different policy in Jerusalem.

To all our friends in the United States and around the world:
The Israeli people have voted for change and to replace the current government.
Our democracy remains strong and vibrant. We are working to fulfill the will of the Israeli people by forming a new government as soon as possible - a national emergency government.
I intend to bring new leadership to Israel, leadership that serves all Israelis. Together with my partners, we will build a stronger Israel: A Jewish and democratic Israel. An Israel that is committed to liberal values, equality for all and is confident in its future.
The bond between Israel and the United States is more than an alliance between governments. It is a partnership between peoples, built over generations, sustained by shared democratic values, and strengthened by the conviction that our nations are more secure and more prosperous when we stand together.
Under my leadership, we will renew and deepen that partnership, strengthen the bipartisan foundations that have long sustained it, and work with our allies to advance a Middle East defined not simply by the absence of conflict, but by the presence of opportunity and cooperation.
Israel will remain one of Americaโs most reliable and capable strategic partners in the Middle East, a partnership that is mutually beneficial for both peoples, in every aspect.
I look forward to working closely and constructively with President Trump and his administration, whose friendship and commitment to Israel we deeply value. Together, we can advance our shared security interests, strengthen regional stability, and open new doors to prosperity for the peoples of the Middle East.
That is the Israel I believe in. And that is the future we intend to build.

BREAKING: HOLY SMOKES! Democrats now control enough states to effectively abolish the Electoral College through the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Republicans did NOT have this on their bingo cards...
Under the Constitution, states control their electoral votes and are allowed to decide how they are allocated during presidential elections. Currently, almost every state gives its votes to whoever wins the state.
In practice, the current system means that a candidate can win the national popular vote, but lose the election because small states like Wyoming exert undue influence on the outcome. That state has 3 electoral votes with a population of just 577,000 people. California has 54 electoral votes and a population of 39.5 million people. So a vote in Wyoming is essentially 3.8 times as valuable as one in California.
Since 1992, Democrats have won the popular vote seven out of nine times.
Under the NPV, states that join agree to give their electoral votes to whoever wins the national popular vote, not just their own state. So a state could go red on the map, but if the Democrat wins the national vote, they still get that state's votes. And vice versa of course.
The crucial mechanism is that the compact doesn't trigger until the member states have a combined power of at least 270 electoral votes, the number needed to win the White House. So far, 18 states plus D.C. have joined, totaling 222 electoral votes. We only need 48 more.
Now is the chance to pass this measure in every state possible. Democrats won both houses of the legislature in Wisconsin for the first time in 18 years (10 electoral votes). We won the Pennsylvania state Senate for the first time since 1993 (19 votes). We now have a trifecta in Michigan (15 votes). And we won the governorโs race in Nevada (6 votes).
10 + 19 + 15 + 6 = 50.
222 + 50 = 272.
And if we hold our lead in the Arizona Senate, that number could climb as high as 283, more than enough to trigger the compact.
In addition to removing an imbalance in our system that favors Republicans, this novel approach would fundamentally change how candidates run their presidential campaigns. Currently, they are incentivized to ignore most of the country. If you live in a โsafeโ state, red or blue, your vote for President is basically decided before you cast it. Campaigns spend their time and money in a handful of swing states while the rest of us watch from the sidelines. If the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact is adopted, they'll have reason to hit every state because they're aiming to win the largest swath of the country as a whole, not just certain states.
States have until July 20, 2028 to join the compact in time for the next presidential election.
We can fix our democracy. The time is now.
Please โค๏ธ and share if you support this idea!
