Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation. It is pervasive, but not inevitable. We can all help break the cycle by speaking out, supporting survivors, and protecting women and girls everywhere. 📸: @UN_Women

Before the resolution, we were there. Long before the UN speeches and celebrations, survivors, girls and activists were speaking, organising and demanding an end to FGM and child, early and forced marriage. I was one of them. linkedin.com/pulse/before-re…

They’ve already started threatening us. No amount of name-calling, threats, intimidation, bullying or harassment from any Sierra Leonean politician will silence me. I will continue to speak out against female genital mutilation and the violence, abuse and lifelong harm it inflicts on women and girls. As survivors, we have every right to raise our voices, tell our truths and demand an end to this harmful practice. Those who are uncomfortable with survivors speaking out should ask themselves why they have a problem with women and girls challenging violence and demanding protection, dignity and justice. I will not be intimidated. I will not be bullied into silence. I will continue to speak, advocate and stand alongside survivors. For the avoidance of doubt, any communication, social media post, comment, message or other material containing threats, intimidation, harassment or incitement directed at me will be documented and securely preserved, including relevant dates, account details and other available evidence. Where I believe conduct may constitute a criminal offence or otherwise warrant investigation, the material will be reported to the appropriate authorities and may be relied upon as evidence in any subsequent investigation or legal proceedings. Deleting a post or message after publication does not mean that a record of it has not already been preserved. Silence protects harmful practices. I choose to speak.

I have no respect for those in power who turn a blind eye to violence against the bodies of African women and girls. The @UN speaks of #EndFGM by 2030, yet chose to celebrate leadership from Sierra Leone while serious concerns about FGM, survivor voices and political accountability remain unresolved. You cannot champion the rights of girls selectively. FGM is violence. Every girl matters. The world is watching. EVERY 7 seconds a girl is cut. Sierra Leone will not end FGM by 2030. @antonioguterres @AminaJMohammed @swakana99 @melindagates @MelissaFleming @UNFPA

Survivor voice takes time. One of the reflections that stayed with us from Justice for Girls 2026 was the reminder that meaningful survivor leadership cannot be built in a one-year project cycle. For one survivor, it took 23 years to speak publicly about her experience with FGM. Creating spaces where survivors can move from silence to connection, healing, and leadership requires time, trust, and sustained support. We need to invest in survivor-led spaces not only to hear survivors, but to support them to shape the work, lead it, and define what change looks like. Survivors should not have to rush their healing to fit a funding cycle. #JFG2026 #CenteringSurvivorsCreatingChange #EndFGMC #EndChildMarriage

Puisqu’une image vaut mille mots , nous vous présentons jusqu’où la misogynie des hommes peut aller. Sans anesthésie, de façon archaïque et traditionnelle des millions de femmes continuent de subir, souffrir et de mourir ! #StopExcision #EndFGM #FeministesAfricaines #AbaslesMGF

Its 2026, this barbaric practice must ends .
I’m a survivor of FGM , now a mother of 2 beautiful twin girls , under no circumstances I will put them under the knife in the name of culture / tradition. They are born with healthy organs so no need to be cut. It’s 2026 NO FGM. #EndFGM#Lets ProtectOurGirls
