The thing to always remember about poetry: it can take ten years to write a book that should only take an hour to read. Be at peace with that idea.

Insanely grateful for this review in @FreeStateReview.
"At long last we have an author who creates the perfect argument against everyone’s need for an objective correlative. Anyone and any story can have a soul even if nothing defines it in the T. S. Eliot way."
The faces of the young girls in Mike’s “Baby Doll Clown Killers” series look very much like my mother’s portraits—or like the pictures of children in clothing catalogues from that era—with the exception that these girls are executing clowns.

I love the hungry part of this poem
Two aging poetry editors who can't spell Colombia--one with a little faith, and one a little faithless, and both suffering autoimmune dysfunctions--go to the Somondoco jungle in search of a book maker who is only subjected to a ten percent tariff. Along the way, they stop at a psychedelic dispensary. Hilarity ensues. The movie is called Columbia.

ALT The Presence in Absence Poetry is not made of words. I can say it’s January when it’s August. I can say, “The scent of wisteria on the second floor of my grandmother’s house with the door open onto the porch in Petaluma,” while I’m living an hour’s drive from the Mexican border town of Ojinaga. It is possible to be with someone who is gone. Like the silence which continues here in the desert while the night train passes through Marfa louder and louder, like the dogs whining and barking after the train is gone.
All these years typing up the hand writing, settling and stitching pages, wrapping the books in tawny mailing paper, and all anyone seems to want is Kindle. Oh well. OK. Here you are then.
