Hyderabad seriously needs better Metro connectivity. Today I started from Raidurg for a client meeting towards Miyapur. It took me almost 1 hour 10 minutes by car. The traffic was just exhausting. And this is not only about my journey. Think about someone travelling every single day from Miyapur to KPHB, KPHB to HITEC City, HITEC City to Raidurg, or Raidurg towards Financial District and Neopolis. These areas have completely changed over the last few years. IT companies, offices, residential projects, schools, hospitals and businesses are all growing rapidly. But our public transport connectivity has not grown at the same speed. We need to seriously think about a strong Metro corridor connecting Miyapur → KPHB → HITEC City → Raidurg and further Raidurg → Financial District → Neopolis. Today, we are trying to solve increasing traffic with more roads and wider roads. But how long can we keep doing that? The city is going to keep growing. More people will come. More companies will come. More homes will come. More cars will come. If we don’t build mass public transport now, travelling across West Hyderabad is only going to become more difficult. Hyderabad is one of India’s fastest-growing economic centres. We have the opportunity to build world-class infrastructure, but the planning has to happen before the traffic becomes unmanageable. Metro should not only connect where Hyderabad is today. It should connect where Hyderabad is going to be tomorrow. Miyapur. KPHB. HITEC City. Raidurg. Financial District. Kokapet. Neopolis. These places are becoming one huge economic corridor. We need to start thinking of them as one connected Hyderabad. Requesting the concerned authorities to seriously look at this connectivity. Because Hyderabad doesn’t need more time stuck in traffic.
