So, we have consultant geriatrician Dr J Simms at @LG_NHS putting out a job advert for a PA to work on a Diabetes & geriatric ward . Diabetes Pts and the elderly are complex, vulnerable and not to be played with by quacks ! @parthaskar

***NHS staff should NOT be expected to fund the NHS with pay cuts*** NHS service provision is a national issue, as such, the pressure to fund it should be spread fairly across the population Why should NHS workers accept pay cuts year on year to prop up the NHS?!

PAs are legally dependent practitioners. They are not 'medically trained' They are not a 'distinct... profession' They must always be supervised by a doctor.

If these individuals felt their work represented an honest & safe evaluation of what PAs could do they would be proud to put their names to it Instead, this reeks of a stitch up where I suspect many of those with conflicts of interest are attempting to rescue their pet project

The ‘noctor’ brigade assessing, diagnosing and treating patients in primary and secondary care is bad enough. Now young Ross has his own company offering the lot through private remote consultations. But he had a three-hour CQC interview, so that’s all just bloody fine, then! 🙄

NAs do some of the tasks traditionally done by RNs. They deserve routes to grow. Many of them don’t want to be registered nurses. They can become band 5 Advanced NAs with the right support and supervision. This will help free up RNs. #protectnurse

Thank you — completely agree that everyone deserves to feel valued. Career progression for NAs needs more structure, but it could include: – NA Team Leads – Clinical Educator roles – Specialist NA pathways (frailty, LD, MH) – Advanced Band 5 development within scope It’s not always about becoming an RN — we need routes to grow as NAs. It’s an area that really needs to be looked at nationally.

Sigh....I have often said the scope creep issue would not have succeeded w/o physicians acting as the Trojan Horse. This cardiology group brags that this NP is the first in their hospital system to "autonomously" implant a loop recorder. Reminiscent of a similar event in the UK
