In 2018, a prospective Boston Breakers buyer sent this email to the NWSL after learning that Christy Holly was in a relationship with a player.
"How pervasive is this problem?" the prospective buyer asked.
The sale didn't go through. The Boston Breakers shuttered weeks later.

I'm not a comms professional but spoiler: This one won't blow over. Players and fans, and particularly those in that group who were actively wronged or deceived, deserve better. Deserve more.

Worth noting the Thorns got this report at 10 a.m. yesterday, had all day to read it and digest it and then apparently just decided to go home.

Is it honestly too hard for a single NWSL team to say ... something about that damning report yesterday? Is the league really all going to put in on its players (again) to take the lead on this?

"Yates report found ... then-NWSL commissioner Jeff Plush emailed Gulati, Flynn & Levine that it was his understanding that Thorns (GM) Gavin Wilkinson told the Flash that Riley had been “put in a bad position by the player” and that Wilkinson would “hire [Riley] in a heartbeat.”

I’ve been thinking about this for a little while and I want to set the record straight after the Thorns “investigation” was released. Gavin Wilkinson explicitly told me to be more like a player who we both knew to be closeted. There was no misunderstanding.

Sources: Merritt Paulson spoke with Steve Malik in 2019 about having Paul Riley withdraw from the #USWNT manager search. This was due to the possibility that Riley’s misconduct in Portland might become public if he was a candidate: es.pn/3AJmvRh #NWSL #RCTID #BAONPDX

This anti-discrimination lawsuit was filed back in June, but is just getting attention. Ricky Hill, a former English pro, is suing MLS, USL, and the teams he applied to unsuccessfully for managing jobs (Inter Miami, Las Vegas Lights, Memphis 901, OKC Energy, Charlotte FC )
