As always our Stevie was down there to assist, possibly rebranding ourself as the 6th emergency service. Regular updates will follow, hoping for some rooted cuttings. Touch wood.( as they say)
Hardwood cuttings have been taken from the tree by a member of our Botanics team. These will be propagated to create clones with the hope of growing young whips for replanting 🌱 Work to remove broken branches and the long process of restorative care will start soon. (2/2)
ALT Collage of 3 photographs showing the Darnley Sycamore tree after storm damage. One is a silhouette of the tree, another image shows a Glasgow City Council Staff member who works at the botanics with cuttings of the tree for propagation, and the larger image is a wide photo of the tree showing the broken branches. The sky is blue and clear and the sun is shining.

Well done to all the pupils from various schools across Glasgow who enjoyed taking cuttings and learning the benefits of using a soilless growing media with our hydroponic system. 😀
