Development funding builds schools, clinics, and job programmes every day. Too often, persons with disabilities can't get through the door. The Amman-Berlin Declaration was endorsed at #GDS2025 to change that. @IDA_CRPD_Forum's free online training on it is out now: tinyurl.com/ABDcourse Built for OPDs, and you can work through it at your own pace.

Qatar will remain "an open realm for dialogue and cultural interaction among peoples and for the exchange of views and experiences." His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, shared this at the opening of the 81st UN General Assembly, where he confirmed that Doha will host the fourth Global Disability Summit in 2028. For the 1.3 billion persons with disabilities worldwide, that dialogue will make sure our voices and rights stay at the centre. We are thankful for this leadership and ready to work with Qatar and all partners toward a Summit that is accessible, inclusive, and grounded in the CRPD. #GDS2028 #GlobalDisabilitySummit #UNGA81

.@uclg_org keeps accessibility above 2% of its annual budget, tracks the allocation and reports on it every year. That is one of the commitments UCLG made at the Global Disability Summit, one year in. Since 2019, UCLG has been helping local and regional governments implement the #CRPD through localisation, and GDS 2025 gave that work a delegation, a side event and a review mechanism. The Universal Guidelines on the Local Inclusion Agenda (ULIA), co-designed with OPDs, launch on 29 September and give local governments a practical way to apply the CRPD. 🔗globaldisabilitysummit.org/r… @IDA_CRPD_Forum

Today is #WorldHumanitarianDay. We recognize the aid workers who keep showing up in the hardest places, often at real personal risk, and we stand with people living through crises. Inclusive Humanitarian Action was a core category at #GDS2025, where partners, OPDs, CSOs, governments and INGOs put forward 55 commitments across: 1⃣Policy and advocacy 2⃣Capacity building and participation 3⃣Accessibility and infrastructure 4⃣Data and tracking 5⃣Assistive technology More: gds.idata.tools/overview @IDA_CRPD_Forum

.@villedelyon was the only municipality to commit at GDS 2022. Three years on: accessibility budget doubled to €16M, 476 staff trained, employment of staff with disabilities at 10.89%, and 62% of its Disability Action Plan delivered. The plan was co-designed with OPDs from the first draft. 🔗Sylvie Tomic, Deputy Mayor of Lyon, shared insights from the implementation process with our team: globaldisabilitysummit.org/r…

Over the past year, countries have taken concrete steps toward implementation, from improving Official Development Assistance (ODA) monitoring to strengthening how programmes advance disability inclusion. But how can this progress be tracked? Join this webinar to understand how Cambodia 🇰🇭 developed a dedicated disability inclusion marker within its national ODA database. 🗓️ 17 June 2026 |🕙10:00 – 11:30 CEST 📍Register here: tinyurl.com/ABDWebinar ☑️Live captioning in English

Only 10% of those needing assistive products (wheelchairs, glasses, hearing aids) in low-income countries can access them. @_ATscale committed to changing this at #GDS2025, targeting 50 million individuals by 2027. 🔗Know all about their commitments: gds.idata.tools #AssistiveTech #WorldATDay @IDA_CRPD_Forum

Today is International Albinism Awareness Day. For millions of people living with albinism, this is not just about awareness. It is about violence, exclusion, discrimination, and legal invisibility that still remains widespread. At #GDS2025, governments made concrete commitments to change that: 🇹🇿 Tanzania committed to strengthen legal protections against harmful cultural practices, violence, and trafficking targeting persons with albinism by 2027. 🇳🇬 Nigeria committed to amend its Disabilities Act to recognise the legal capacity of persons with albinism to make their own decisions. What if the most ambitious disability commitments aren't made by organisations alone, but together? @GrupoSocialONCE did something no one had done before: it brought together key actors, @AECID_es, @fiap_es and the General Directorate for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the Spanish Ministry of Social Affairs (DGDPD), in Spanish Cooperation to make the first-ever joint commitments on disability inclusion. At GDS 2022, this led to 12 commitments and a precedent that reshaped future Summits. By #GDS2025, joint commitments had grown from that first alliance to 64. 🔗 Read the full story in our GDS Impact Series: globaldisabilitysummit.org/r…
