ALT Over 20 local socialists attending the Greater Manchester Left Caucus open meeting on April 11th agreed the following: Jam the ban! The leadership of Your Party can take any ban on socialists, and stick it. This is an illegitimate move which contradicts conference. Defy the ban! We will continue to work, together, on our campaigns and ignore the bans. Support the Sheffield convention. We will attend the YP Connections convention on Saturday 6 June in Sheffield and urge other comrades to do likewise. Note: the Sheffield meeting is open to all with no restrictions

ALT Where next for the new party? Anti-capitalist perspectives After the founding conference, what future is there for the new left party? What potential is there to build transformative socialist politics in and through the party? Join us for an open discussion and social afterwards. Sunday December 7th 2pm - 4pm Working Class Movement Library Annex M5 4XW

ALT Greater Manchester Left Caucus have created a WhatsApp chat for those living in Greater Manchester who have been sortitioned to attend Your Party’s Founding Conference in Liverpool, Nov 29 – 30. You do not have to agree with GMLC’s political principles to join this chat. In line with our commitment to radical democracy in Your Party, we have created this as a space for conference attendees to deliberate and discuss together, and to plan travel plans from Manchester to Liverpool. All we ask is that discussion in this chat is kept relevant and comradely. Send us a direct message to be added to the chat!

ALT We support the Democratic Socialist's seven key amendments to the Constitution and Standing Orders: 1. Empower the branches 2. For a party of the whole left 3. For a collective leadership 4. Transparency and openness 5. Fair and independent discipline 6. Accountability for elected representatives 7. A worker’s wage and party equality In addition to Democratic Socialists’ amendments, GMLC has voted to recommend that attendees:

ALT In addition to Democratic Socialists’ amendments, GMLC has voted to recommend that attendees: 8. Oppose automatic representation on leadership bodies for affiliated trade unions. This tends to empower the leadership of unions rather than rank-and-file workers. 9. Oppose automatic representation on leadership bodies for party ‘sections’ (e.g. a Your Party LGBT+ Section). By being designated the ‘official’ representative of minoritised groups, individuals within ‘sections’ can claim to represent that whole group without elaborating their genuine political motivations. 10. Support quotas for minoritised groups on leadership bodies. In lieu of automatic representation for sections, quotas would prevent leadership bodies from being dominated by one single demographic, e.g. by reserving spaces for a set number of women to be elected to leadership bodies.

ALT On Your Party’s Political statement, GMLC suggests that attendees: 1. Push for an explicitly anti-capitalist political statement, leaving no room for ambiguity on this. 2. Push for linking the party as an electoral project with non-electoral forms of struggle, through a programme which unifies both. 3. Push for the party to commit to the liberation of all oppressed groups rather than a vague commitment to ‘equality’. Push for the statement to name particularly urgent instances of oppression today, e.g. transphobia, attacks on migrants, misogyny and ableism. 4. Push for the party to state that the struggle for socialism is a global struggle, and that a socialist Britain can only exist as part of a socialist world.
