Excited to share our latest Ind. Eng. Chem. Res. publication! 🎉 Led by Mario Zorrilla-Valtierra (Lively lab @GTChBE and @walton_lab currently @NCState), this work investigates the stability of amine-functionalized MOFs for direct air capture under exposure to ozone and NOx impurities generated from air. Understanding how these contaminants affect CO2 capture performance and material structure is an important step toward designing more durable DAC sorbents for real-world operation.

You might not think about the engineering in an aluminum can when you pop the top, but researchers in Nian Liu's @GTChBE lab do. They've created unique tools to study the thin protective layer inside the cans in partnership with @Novelis, helping the company conduct rapid tests and develop new products for customers. b.gatech.edu/4wcIFXw
Crude oil refining hasn't changed much in a century. Researchers at Georgia Tech and KAIST have published a paper in Nature that suggests a simple membrane material could significantly cut the energy and carbon footprint of petroleum refining. b.gatech.edu/3R4vqc5

Engineered cell lines can take years and millions of dollars to develop. So there’s real potential for theft and industrial espionage. @GTChBE researchers now can protect valuable genetic material with a new “lock” that works at the DNA level. b.gatech.edu/4v82QFN
