ALT 1/ Red and white text on a black background reading: "We are seeing increasingly alarming attacks on protected academic free speech at the UO. Messages sent out by UO this week have encouraged students to report instructors discussing current events on campus. These restrictions and forms of surveillance run counter to law and to university policy. GTFF is providing Know Your Rights resources and support to help you protect yourself and your colleagues.

ALT 2/ Red and black text on a white background reading: "On Monday, May 6, the University of Oregon sent out at least two different emails which were thinly veiled invitations for students to report GE and faculty instructors who are exercising their right to academic free speech in the classroom. Since these emails went out, we have noted a significant uptick in instructors being contacted by higher area administrators (notably, not their direct supervisors or unit heads) suggesting that they refrain from raising political issues and current events in their course, unless presented with both sides of every issue".

ALT 5/ Some important points to remember to help protect you and your colleagues: You have the right to union representation in ANY meeting that MIGHT result in disciplinary action against you. Document and save all communications related to these issues off UO mail server, and send them to [email protected]. Be aware that students are being encouraged to report on instructors referencing to events/actions on campus. Know Your Rights! See the GTFF newsletter and website for resources on academic free speech at the UO, as well as more KYR info about protest rights for domestic and international GEs.

ALT ALT 1 / Grey graphic with white GTFF logo watermark. Title, in red, reads: "Solidarity with Palestine and Condemning Police Repression of Anti-War Student Protests". Text, in black, reads: "As leaders of a graduate student labor union, GTFF’s Executive Board believes in defending academic freedom and the right to protest. We absolutely condemn the use of police violence and other forms of repression against student protesters on college campuses across the nation. Moreover, we collectively demand that the University of Oregon and local police act peacefully towards the Gaza Solidarity Encampment and student protesters on our own campus. We are disgusted by the sight of other university administrations choosing to visit police brutality upon their own students, and we urge our leaders at the UO to choose differently."

ALT ALT 2 / Grey graphic with white GTFF logo watermark. Text reads: "Additionally, we would like to share some informational resources on the rights of students and workers who may be participating in protest actions. While we cannot officially endorse certain types of protests/actions, we encourage any of our members who choose to participate in any form of protest to exercise good judgment, mutual respect for other community members, and appropriate individual risk-management. You can read our full statement and learn more about your rights as a student, a worker, and a protester at: gtff3544.net/news" ALT 3 / Grey graphic with white GTFF logo watermark. Text reads: "Labor unions like ours (especially ones which draw power in large part from student activism) undeniably have a role to play in the broader global struggle for justice and liberation. As workers and human beings, we recognize and honor the dignity and humanity of all peoples, including the people of Palestine–none of us

Text reads: "Labor unions like ours (especially ones which draw power in large part from student activism) undeniably have a role to play in the broader global struggle for justice and liberation.
