🌬️ Storm Austen - Friday 23 October ⚠️
Strong winds are expected to impact services across Devon and Cornwall on Friday, with an amber weather warning in place.
🚆 Fewer trains will run, services will be busier and journeys may take longer. Long-distance services will operate between London Paddington and Plymouth only, with local trains providing a shuttle between Plymouth and Penzance.
⚠️ Some early-morning services on Saturday 24 October may also be cancelled while teams assess any damage.
Please check your journey before setting off. We’ll keep you updated as conditions change.

Colleagues laid flowers at Cardiff Central today in tribute to the victims of the Aberfan disaster.
Sixty years on, we honour the 144 lives lost, including 116 children. Each was a life, a family and a future, and their stories must never be forgotten.
We also pay tribute to the courage and compassion shown by those who supported the Aberfan community in its darkest hour.
Our thoughts remain with all those affected by this tragedy.
⚠️ Customers travelling with us on 28/29 November are advised to plan ahead, as rail improvement work will impact all train services for London Paddington 🚧
Special trains will operate between London Euston and Bristol Temple Meads, plus between London Euston and Swansea/Carmarthen.
These hourly services will not pick-up or drop-off customers between London Euston and Swindon, including at Oxford or Didcot Parkway.
When planning your journey, search for journeys to or from London Euston instead of London Paddington.
GWR trains will still operate between:
➡️Slough and Windsor & Eton Central
➡️Maidenhead and Didcot Parkway/Marlow
➡️Twyford and Henley-on-Thames
➡️Reading and Didcot Parkway/Swindon/Bristol Parkway/Cardiff Central
➡️Reading and Bristol Temple Meads/Weston-super-Mare/Taunton
➡️Reading and Newbury/Bedwyn
➡️Reading and Exeter St Davids/Plymouth/Penzance
➡️Reading and Oxford/Worcester/Great Malvern/Hereford
➡️Reading and Basingstoke
➡️Reading and Guildford/Gatwick Airport
➡️Swindon and Cheltenham Spa

We need your vote! 🙏
⏰ There are just hours left before the World Cup of Stations top 20 is cut down to the final five at midnight tonight. Every single vote today could make the difference. Only the leading station from each regional group will go through, so we're asking you to get behind our incredible stations: Par, Crediton and Yatton.
🌱 Par is changing lives through volunteering, giving local people opportunities to build skills, confidence and independence through gardening, customer service and passenger assistance.
🎵 Crediton has transformed former station buildings into a thriving community café and inclusive music and arts hub, helping people with learning disabilities and autism build friendships and feel a sense of belonging.
🚲 Yatton brings together volunteers, a social-enterprise café and a community cycling hub, helping people gain confidence, independence and new connections through accessible, sustainable travel.
These stations are about far more than trains. They're bringing communities together, creating opportunities and making a real difference to customers and local people every day.

🚆 UPDATE: @GWRHelp & @CrossCountryUK services between Reading & Swindon will return to normal on Thursday (24 Sept) after SGN & National Gas repaired the gas leak nr Didcot. Some short-notice changes may still occur, please check before you travel. More: tinyurl.com/2b5kupud
A gas leak near the railway at Didcot is still causing disruption to train services across the network today - we're sorry if your journey has been affected.
Teams from across the railway are working to keep customers moving as much as possible, but gas engineers are still working on fixing the leak so it is safe for trains to use the nearby tracks. Disruption is expected to continue until at least the end of today.
Network Rail Route director Marcus Jones explains what’s happening and the latest travel advice.
