All 7 of the Magnificent 7 finished in the red today. But their options tell a different story.
Today's MAG7 moves:
🔴 $NVDA -4.22% | $MSFT -1.55%
🔴 $META -1.53% | $AMZN -1.41%
🔴 $GOOGL -1.40% | $AAPL -1.23%
🔴 $TSLA -0.87%
Here's what stands out:
- $NVDA : Biggest decline (-4.2%), with IV at 49.4% and IV Rank near 65.
- $AAPL : Fell just 1.2%, yet has the highest IV Rank of the group at 71.
- $AMZN : Down 1.4%, but its IV fell 10.5 percentage points over five days.
For options traders: A falling stock doesn't always mean rising volatility.
Price tells you what happened. IV tells you how much movement the options market is pricing in.
Which Mag 7 stock looks most interesting for premium sellers right now?
@tastyliveshow
Wall Street ended October with a sea of red across major ETFs.
Here's how they performed today:
🔴 $QQQ (Nasdaq-100): -3.47%
🔴 $SPY (S&P 500): -1.77%
🔴 $IWM (Russell 2000): -1.65%
🔴 $DIA (Dow Jones): -1.07%
Here's what's interesting:
- $QQQ fell nearly 2× as much as $SPY and more than 3× as much as $DIA.
- $SPY and $IWM declined by similar amounts, while the tech-heavy $QQQ took a much bigger hit.
- $DIA held up relatively better, showing how differently major ETFs can perform on the same day.
For traders: Owning multiple ETFs doesn't always mean you're diversified. Their underlying holdings and sector exposure matter.
Is this just a tech-led pullback, or could selling spread to the broader market next week?
@tastyliveshow
Tech stocks took a beating today, dominating the S&P 500's biggest losers.
9 of the 10 biggest losers were classified as technology stocks in today's data.
🔴 $RDDT -29.2% | $INTC -28.6%
🔴 $ILMN -18.6% | $TWLO -15.2%
🔴 $SNDK -13.5% | $DDOG -11.5%
🔴 $AMD -10.9% | $DELL -10.8%
Meanwhile, some stocks had a very different Friday:
🟢 $FDXF +14.9% | $REGN +13.3%
🟢 $GPN +13.0% | $GDDY +10.7%
Here's an interesting contrast: The worst-performing stock fell nearly 30%, while the biggest winner gained almost 15%.
And $SNDK tells another story: after gaining 7.7% Wednesday, it lost 5.3% Thursday and 13.5% Friday.
For traders: A market selloff isn't always broad-based. Sometimes the real risk is concentrated in a handful of stocks and industries. And A stock can look strong one day and give back those gains in a hurry. Big daily moves also mean bigger risks when sizing positions.
@tastyliveshow
Which move surprised you most this week?
Google grew revenue 25%. Its stock fell 12.6%. Meanwhile, used cars and cruise ships rallied....Welcome to earnings season.
Today's S&P 500 biggest movers:
🟢 $GEN +15.8% | $CVNA +15.7%
🟢 $NCLH +13.5% | $HII +13.2%
🔴 $NOW -27.0% | $FTNT -20.1%
🔴 $GOOGL -12.6% | $GOOG -12.29% | $CAT -9.3%
Three things stood out today:
- Google's earnings surprise: Revenue grew 25% and Cloud surged 103%, but earnings missed expectations and AI spending weighed on cash flow... this maybe the cause of its drop today.
- Software got hit hard: $NOW and $FTNT both lost more than 20% in a single session.
- The market was stronger underneath: Roughly 80% of S&P 500 stocks advanced, yet the index finished lower as heavyweight tech stocks dragged it down.
For traders: Strong earnings growth doesn't guarantee a rally, and a falling index doesn't mean most stocks are falling.
Sometimes the index tells a very different story from the stocks inside it.
@tastyliveshow
#Google #Earnings #EarningsSeason #OptionsTrading
Look at the S&P 500's biggest movers:
🟢 $VRT +16.5% | $ORCL +10.6%
🟢 $SNDK +7.7% | $MU +5.9%
🔴 $FFIV -20.4% | $CSGP -14.0%
🔴 $CHRW -11.1% | $LII -10.6%
Here's what caught my attention:
7 of the 10 biggest gainers were technology stocks, including several tied to AI infrastructure and semiconductors.
But technology also produced the day's biggest loser: $FFIV , down 20.4%.
For traders, that's the interesting part: Being in the right sector doesn't guarantee you're in the right stock.
And on a Fed day, individual stocks can move far more than the broader market suggests.
@tastyliveshow
The Fed made headlines today, but the S&P 500 heatmap tells a more interesting story.
Markets were barely moving after the Fed held rates steady:
🏦 Rates unchanged at 3.75%–4.00%
- Fed vote: 10–2, with two officials favoring a hike
And:
- S&P 500: +0.10%
- Nasdaq: −0.11%
- Dow: +0.15%
- 10Y Treasury yield: 5.05% (+5 bps)
- 2Y Treasury yield: 4.78% (+3.9 bps)
But look beneath the surface:
🟢 $GOOGL , $AVGO , $MU , $AMD closed up
🔴 $NVDA , $AAPL , $META, closed down
⚪ $MSFT nearly flat
And with $MSFT and $GOOGL earnings after the bell, the next test for Big Tech is just hours away.
For traders: A calm index doesn't mean a calm market. Sometimes the real story is what's happening underneath it.
@tastyliveshow
$MSFT reports earnings today. But how big of a move is already priced in?
Since September 28:
- $MSFT : $509 → $528.60 (+3.8%)
- October 13 peak: ~$543 (+6.7%)
Despite the rally, $MSFT has stayed inside its 68% expected-move range.
Here's what traders should watch tonight:
It's not just whether Microsoft beats earnings. It's whether the stock moves more than options are pricing in.
And with post-earnings IV contraction potentially ahead, getting the direction right may not be enough to make money on long options.
The real question: Will $MSFT deliver a bigger move than the market expects?
@tastyliveshow
A stock can fall 13% one day and jump 8% the next. Welcome to the market.
Today's biggest winners:
🟢 $LITE +8.2% | $FIX +7.2%
🟢 $COHR +5.8% | $TSLA +5.2%
Meanwhile, others took a hit:
🔴 $FICO -13.2% | $DASH -6.1%
🔴 $CHTR -5.9% | $RDDT -4.0%
Here's the interesting part: $LITE and $COHR were among Thursday's biggest losers, but both bounced back today.
For traders, there's an important lesson: A stock that falls 12% needs to gain about 13.6% just to recover.
A strong rebound doesn't always mean the losses are gone.
@tastyliveshow
Finally Friday but wall Street ended the week with an interesting twist.
Yesterday, AI infrastructure stocks were getting hammered. Today, cybersecurity and energy took the spotlight.
🟢 $CRWD +8.3% | $PANW +7.2%
🟢 $SLB +7.1% | $HAL +5.2%
Meanwhile...
🔴 $BE -11.2% | $FIX -9.3%
🔴 AT&T -8.0% | $TMUS -7.7%
Here's what caught my attention: 4 of the top 10 gainers were energy-related, while two major telecom companies finished among the biggest losers.
The market isn't abandoning growth. It's becoming more selective about which growth stories it rewards.
For traders, following where strength is emerging can be just as important as watching where stocks are falling.
@tastyliveshow
Today, Wall Street sold AI and bought soup and cereal lol. But the real story is in the numbers.
- Nasdaq -2.6% | S&P 500 -1.2%
Today's biggest losers:
🔴 $COHR -12.5% | $LRCX -11.8% | $LITE -11.5%
🔴 $CIEN -10.7%, after gaining 5.7% yesterday
Today's biggest gainers:
🟢 $POOL +14.4% | $ALLE +11.0%
🟢 $CPB +8.7% | $GIS +8.0%
Here's what traders should notice: Nearly 2 out of 3 S&P 500 stocks rose, even as the index fell.
That's the difference between market breadth and index performance.
A handful of heavily weighted stocks can pull the index lower while opportunities emerge elsewhere.
AI-related stocks were getting hit while consumer staples found buyers.
The takeaway? A red SPY doesn't mean every stock is falling. Sometimes the most interesting opportunities are hiding outside the market's biggest name.
@tastyliveshow
Two stocks can fall on the same day for completely different reasons.
Today:
- $SPY -1.3%: Tech and AI stocks under pressure
- $MRNA -24%: Disappointing cancer-vaccine trial news
But zoom out to October 2025:
- $SPY +14%
- $MRNA +644%
Here's the lesson for traders: Not every selloff is a market-wide problem.
SPY reflects broader market risk. MRNA carries company-specific risk that can overwhelm the market's direction.
Same direction. Different catalysts. Very different risks.
@tastyliveshow
$META just reported earnings yesterday. Is the biggest move already behind us?
$META is trading near $648, down roughly 11% from its October 1 level around $725.
The chart shows $META testing the lower edge of its 68% expected-move cone.
Here's what makes it interesting for options traders:
Historically, $META 's earnings moves averaged around 7%, while implied volatility has typically contracted after the announcement.
With earnings uncertainty fading, traders now face a different setup:
- Premium sellers: Lower IV may mean less credit for taking the same risk.
- Option buyers: Cheaper volatility doesn't guarantee a profitable trade.
- Directional traders: Watch whether META stabilizes near $650 or continues lower.
The question isn't just where META goes next. It's whether the options are pricing that next move correctly.
@tastyliveshow
Look at how quickly the market shifted in this heatmap.
- Dow +1.0% | S&P 500 +0.3%
- Nasdaq nearly flat
Oil reversed from nearly $112 to below $109, easing some inflation fears.
🔴 $AAPL , $GOOGL , $META and $MU under pressure
🟢 $LLY , $JNJ and $ABBV showing strength
🟢 Financials also bouncing back.
For traders, picking the right stock matters, but picking the right sector can matter just as much.
@tastyliveshow
Yesterday, tech was stealing the show. Today, the market picked a completely different cast.
🟢 $EFX +11.3% | $HAS +11.2%
🟢 $MRNA +6.7% | $MMM +5.8%
Meanwhile...
🔴 $GM -6.8% | $DVA -6.2%
🔴 $GPC -5.1% | $FIX -4.6%
Here's what caught my eye:
$MRNA gained 4.1% yesterday and another 6.7% today. That's roughly 11% in just two sessions.
Meanwhile, $GPC has fallen two days in a row.
The interesting part? Today's biggest winners weren't the usual AI giants.
The market keeps reminding us that opportunities aren't limited to big tech.
@tastyliveshow
Today's top 10 gainers and losers showed how investors were buying the technology, but selling some of the companies powering it.
🟢 $WDC +6.1% | $SNDK +5.5%
🟢 $AMZN +5.0% | $PLTR +4.4%
Meanwhile...
🔴 $NRG -4.2% | $ES -3.6% | $CEG -3.0%
All three power companies finished among the S&P 500's biggest losers.
The takeaway? Even when investors believe in the same long-term growth story, they don't necessarily agree on which stocks are worth buying today.
That's what makes this market interesting.
@tastyliveshow
Today's Heatmap: The Nasdaq is up, but Wall Street isn't celebrating together.
- Nasdaq +1.1% | S&P 500 +0.4%
🟢 NVDA, MU, AMD and AVGO rebound
🔴 Banks, healthcare and utilities struggle
After last week's tech selloff, investors are buying AI names again.
But here's the interesting part: a few giant stocks can push the index higher even when much of the market is red.
With Treasury yields still elevated and big tech earnings approaching, this rebound has something to prove.
Green index. Mixed market. That's the story.
@tastyliveshow
Hotter CPI at 3.7% sent yields higher, and growth stocks felt the pressure.
- Nasdaq -1.9% | S&P 500 -1.1%
- Russell 2000 -1.9% | Dow -0.1%
🔴 NVDA -3.2% | META -3.3%
🔴 DELL -11.4% | ORCL -8.8%
But look at the heatmap: healthcare and consumer staples held up while AI stocks got hammered.
That's the story traders should watch.
The market isn't just selling. It's getting more selective about where it's willing to pay for growth.
When yields rise, expensive expectations get tested first
