The perceived motion of a stationary floor, resulting in a loss of balance.
Possibly a "visual-vestibular conflict." when the visual system interprets moving patterns as motion, while the vestibular system does not detect corresponding motion cues

So obviously we’re not good at predicting what impacts research will have.
I also don’t think it should be just about dollars and lives. Discovery feeds our curiosity as humans, inspires art & science, and reminds us why we explore in the first place.
That wonder has value too.

How exactly does breathing calm us? @aexolowski found that slower breathing may reduce anxiety by changing brain activity. Her research earned her this year’s UCSF Postdoc Slam hosted by @ucsfgraddiv & @ucsf_postdocs! tiny.ucsf.edu/fVDT8x

New preprint post! We show that motor commands in the superior colliculus shift the internal representation of heading during REM sleep despite the immobility of sleeping mice. Thus, the brain simulates actions and their consequences during REM sleep.🧵1/7

I'm excited to share the publication of @GalAtlan 's final PhD project.
Title is accurate for the take-home message, yet, there is a lot more to the paper, including the association of claustrum activity to individual variance in strategy. Check it out:
