Absolutely unreal experience. So lucky to have been able to be part of City lifting their first trophy! That was potentially the most stressful 2+ hours of my life, but man was that a sweet payoff 🏆 I also met lots of awesome CITY fans. Many I see on here all the time but it was awesome to meet you in person, thanks for saying hi!

Bummer. On to Portland! Honestly this RSL game was a throwaway for me. Injured great players, and everyone else tired. I think this is the first game of the season I hadn’t watched any part of it live. (Although we were at a show at the Fox so that’s a valid excuse!) Two things appear to be made clear: 1. Mbacke experiment is over after this season 2. Ostrak should be gone too (Or at least take a huge pay cut if we can’t find someone else for that backup role. Man is he overpaid)

Going to share something we experienced this week and what I think is part of our club’s huge success recently. On Wednesday morning, the morning of the biggest game in our club’s history, Katie and I went to breakfast near our AirBNB in Columbus. We decided to eat outside and immediately see dozens of the coaching staff and the front office team having coffee and breakfast together. Yoann, Diego, and 5 or 6 coaches I recognized. That in itself is not out of the ordinary. What really stood out to me is all the kids there, wives there. There must have been 20/30 people on that patio somehow related to someone with the club. Kids playing with each other, wives and coaches talking about stuff they had going on recently in STL. Joking and laughing and having a great time. If you were to tell me that these were all people who have known each other their entire lives, I would have believed you. Keep in mind, the inside of this coffee shop is packed full, but outside it’s just my wife and I, and what felt like every person on the STL payroll. So my wife and I were talking about our day plans and inevitably we could hear bits and pieces of just about everything that was going on over there. I won’t say most of the things that I overheard, for the privacy of the teams and their families of course, but it was very clear that everyone seemed to know each other on such a deep level. One thing that really stuck with me is one of the little girls talking to Yoann about her playing soccer recently at one of her games. Said she finally beat one of the really good STL teams! She went on and on about the game and how good she was and Yoann replied with “Keep practicing and maybe when you are old enough we will have a City Women’s team and you can play for us!” That really stuck with me. This coaching staff has been with our club for less than a year. These are all people who not so long ago took a risk, moved from all over the world to join our club, and now spend so much time with each other in STL that they all are intertwined so tightly with CITY and it showed. Every business owner developing a great team of employees will tell you that a great business starts with great management at the top. These coaches all knowing their role, knowing each other so well, and working together as one large mesh of knowledge for our team trickles down to the player level too. The chemistry of this team is the best I’ve ever seen for CITY. A lot of our players haven’t been playing with each other that long in the grand scheme of things, but Holse, Navarro, Matan and others have a chemistry on the field out of this world. That’s because not only do they no doubt spend a lot of time together, but the coaches have done such a great job of training each and every player to know their role in our team, injecting them with the knowledge of what to do in each game situation, while still letting their skill pop and giving them just enough freedom to make a different move to keep the other team on their toes. Long story short, I want to thank Yoann and each and every member of the coaching staff. Taking a chance on this club, and on the city of STL. Moving across the world to join a club that ultimately at that time was a complete unknown. Team turnover like crazy, 4 coaches in 3 years, and a new sporting director just hired on. Now less than a year later, we have won our first trophy, and I think we have more success on the way with the great work they are doing every day. Go CITY!

I have been to multiple away days. A few KC, couple CHI, Denver recently. Columbus was a much different feel. It felt really similar to what it’s like in STL. Great fans who know the sport well, cool new stadium, amazing atmosphere. Columbus was electric, huge props to the Crew and their fans for that!

Everywhere we have been in Columbus I see a ton of City Red. Leaving our AirBNB, at the coffee shop, at the book store. This town is PAINTED RED

The flag remains 🫡
Our City flag has been ripped for about two months. It ripped around the same time #AllforCity started their undefeated run. I finally got a new flag to put up, but I’m thinking I’m not putting it up until CITY loses a match. I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious…

That turf is ruthless. Would’ve been cool to see Mueller in STL though!
Hearing Thomas Müller, Sam Adekugbe, Jeedvan Badwal all out with hamstring injuries and will NOT feature for the Whitecaps vs. #AllForCITY Tristan Blackmon also suspended after his red card this weekend. Vancouver do have Ocampo and Priso available.

I am seeing a lot of negativity around this call up (mostly from outside our STL City circles) and I HATE to see it. He just turned 22, and has so much potential. He has a long time to get back into goal scoring form and get out of his current slump. He is big, strong, plays with lots of energy. I could see him really being our 2nd US striker behind Balogun if he gets the proper work in between USMNT and STL. Out of the 3 big forward additions to STL recently (Downs, Holse, Navarro), he was actually the one I told my wife I was most excited about. Young, proven that he has what it takes, just needs to get some confidence pumped into him and get him back on the right track. Excited to see what he can do for club and country 🇺🇸
