Recognizing a True Citizen Hero 👏
At last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor Todd Winters presented Brett Haff with the City of Gardner’s first Mayor’s Citizen Hero Award for his extraordinary courage and lifesaving actions during a residential fire on September 7, 2025.
After noticing smoke coming from a neighbor’s home, Brett acted immediately. When he arrived and saw the front porch engulfed in flames, he went around to the back of the home, forced open the rear door and entered the burning residence. Inside, he found a resident who was unaware that the home was on fire and helped him, his wife and their dog escape safely.
The City of Gardner is proud to recognize Brett for his heroic actions and his willingness to put himself in harm’s way to help others.
Congratulations, Brett, and thank you for being an outstanding example of courage and service to our community! 💙
💡 It’s Public Power Week! ⚡
We’re celebrating our Electric Division and the people who keep Gardner powered with reliable, local service.
Join us in thanking the team behind the power! 👏
