Kote nuki (Shorinji Kempo techniques) "Kote nuki" is a technique used to counter when the opponent grabs and pulls your wrist. For beginner Kenshi, it is crucial to accurately perform "Kagite," the correct hand release technique ("Nukite"), and counterattacks like "Ura ken uchi." Once they understand the flow of "Kote nuki," the next step is to learn embu-style techniques, assuming the opponent escapes after receiving counterattacks like "Ura ken uchi." As a black belt Kenshi, you learn how to execute "Ura ken uchi" from an angle where the opponent cannot escape. Additionally, you develop the speed to perform "Kagite," "Nukite," and "Ura ken uchi" in quick succession before the opponent can react to your counterattack. Ultimately, you progress to the level of executing "Kote nuki" in a way that puts the opponent in a position where they cannot counterattack, completing the technique as an effective form of self-defense.
