CADILLAC'S FORMULA 1 CAR GETS A COWBOY-SHIRT LOOK FOR THE UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX IN AUSTIN, TEXAS, OCTOBER 23 TO 25, 2026. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team is America's new team, in its first season. On October 20 it revealed a one-off design for its home race at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. The design is a tribute to the American West. Fine white lines run across the black bodywork. They are drawn to look like the chain stitching on blue jeans and vintage cowboy shirts, and the scrollwork on a saddle. GM designer Vincent Traina told GM News: "It looks like the whole livery is embroidered right onto the car." Hidden in the design are the Austin skyline, a map of the track, 50 stars for the United States, cactuses for Texas and a horseshoe with its heels up, for luck. Traina grew up in Dallas. GM says his dad used to wake him early to watch the races from Europe. His team at GM in Michigan worked with the team's designers in the UK. Work started over the summer. Drivers Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez wear matching custom race suits. American Colton Herta drives Friday's first practice session in Perez's car. It is the team's third one-off look of 2026, after Miami in May and Silverstone in July. Cassidy Towriss, the team's chief brand advisor, put it this way: "In Miami, we drew on American symbols. At Silverstone, we celebrated American color. For Austin, we wanted to explore another part of that story through the character of the American West." The race is Sunday, October 25.
