She was 17, working as a Hooters waitress in Jacksonville, Florida, when the cooks walked out. She didn't know how to deep fry chicken tenders or fries. She went back to the kitchen and figured it out. Two years later, Hooters asked her to fly to Australia to help open the first franchise there. She'd never been on a plane. She didn't have a passport. She got the passport and went. By 26, she was a vice president. She helped grow Hooters from 100 locations to over 500 in 33 countries and from $300 million to $1 billion in revenue. She never finished her undergraduate degree. At 32, Cinnabon recruited her to be president. She was the youngest CEO to ever appear on Undercover Boss. Under her leadership, Cinnabon added 200 bakeries, expanded to 56 countries, and approached $1 billion in annual sales through partnerships with Taco Bell, Burger King, and grocery stores. She grew up on a $10-a-week grocery budget. Three sisters. Single mom who left their alcoholic father when Kat was nine. The family survived on her mother's determination and multiple jobs. "Every year on my birthday card, my mom writes: 'Don't forget where you came from, but don't you dare ever let it solely define you.'" Kat was the first person in her family to attend college. She enrolled in an engineering program at the University of North Florida but dropped out to pursue her career at Hooters. She later earned her MBA from Georgia State University without a bachelor's degree, getting accepted through letters of recommendation from business leaders including Ted Turner. After Cinnabon, she became Group President of Focus Brands (Cinnabon, Auntie Anne's, Moe's, Carvel, Schlotzsky's). Then in 2021, AG1 (formerly Athletic Greens) recruited her after the founder heard her on a podcast. She became President and COO, then CEO in 2024. She's known for a practice she calls the "hotshot rule": every month, she asks herself, "If a hotshot took over my job today, what's the first thing they'd fix that I've been tolerating?" Here's what Kat Cole's story makes me think about. She said yes before she was ready. Every major career leap, from the kitchen walkout to Australia to Cinnabon to AG1, happened because she said yes to something she wasn't qualified for yet and then figured it out in real time. "Saying yes before you are ready is only half of it. You have to use your hustle muscle to close the gap." Most people wait until they feel ready. They wait for the degree, the experience, the credentials, the confidence. Kat built one of the most impressive corporate careers of her generation by saying yes first and learning second. Every single time. I think about that in my own work. I've never felt fully ready to start any of the businesses I've built. The readiness came after the commitment. "Saying yes before you are ready is only half of it. You have to use your hustle muscle to close the gap." What are you waiting to feel ready for that you should just say yes to?

Weekly AI Update OPENAI MODELS ARE HEADED TO GOOGLE CLOUD OpenAI and $GOOGL are partnering to bring OpenAI’s frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud’s Model Garden, pairing them with built in access controls and centralized data governance aimed at regulated industries. Customers will purchase the models through the Google Cloud Marketplace and can draw down their existing Google Cloud spend commitments to do so. OpenAI models are also coming soon to Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent, giving enterprises more flexibility to pick the best model for each task. GOOGLE JOINS AMAZON IN TAKING AIM AT NVIDIA’S GRIP ON AI DEVELOPERS $GOOGL has released TorchTPU as an open source project, letting developers move existing PyTorch apps onto its Tensor Processing Units and Google Cloud with a simple configuration change and no rewriting, a day after $AMZN launched TorchNeuron to do the same for its Trainium chips and AWS. Most AI apps are built on PyTorch, the toolkit $META originally developed, and many of its features were designed around $NVDA GPUs, which has kept developers tied to that hardware by default. $GOOGL says it worked with $META, Hugging Face, and the makers of vLLM and SGLang on compatibility, and it also launched a TPU agent suite to help developers migrate and fix errors along the way. WALMART ROLLS OUT THE WELCOME MAT FOR AI SHOPPING AGENTS AS AMAZON SHUTS THEM OUT $WMT launched Agent Gateway, a new MCP server that lets approved AI agents search its inventory and make purchases for shoppers without receiving their personal information or purchase history, a sharp contrast to $AMZN, which recently began blocking AI agents from buying on its site. Starting next month, Agent Profiles will let customers authorize each agent separately, track its purchases apart from their own, and require approval for every transaction or set a spending limit. $WMT also introduced terms that bar agents from accessing payment information or acting beyond what the shopper intends, while keeping its standard returns process in place even when an agent misbehaves.

Want to sell Costco’s excess inventory without any experience? How about buying without any risk? Here’s a way to work liquidation deals backward that can create Monster Profits. For this tactic, we will be Borrowing Authority and Expertise. Here’s how it works: Bookmark this post so you can come back to it. Of course, you need your Resale Permit to use this tactic. Instructions here: teapaw.org/ShannonJean/status/184… Once you have that, get registered at the Costco liquidation and auction site here: ShannonJean.com/auctions You’ve got your Reseller’s Permit, you’re registered, and you’re ready to make money. Stop watching Netflix and spend your time here each evening. On the left side of the Costco Auction site, find the Condition section and click the “Like New” or “New” link. Find something you are interested in. Download the manifest. Open the manifest in Excel and remove columns A, B, C, D, I, J, and K. This should leave you with these columns: Item Description Qty Unit Retail Ext. Retail (= Qty x Unit Retail) This is your sales document. Use your network to find people selling or using the products in the New and Like New Condition categories. Ask them this question: “Is there a price you would pay for this list of NEW products?” If they say no or are suspicious, move on. You will find someone who will tell you: “Yes, if this product is new and as shown on this list, I would pay $X.XX for it.” Write down that number. Now, you work the deal backward. This is your starting point if your buyer told you they would pay $5K for the list. Using this $5K example – you want to deduct: (shipping costs and fees) Let’s say that is $500 in this example. Ask yourself, what profit do I want to make on this deal? $500? $1000? Let’s go with $1000. $5000 sale price. ($500) shipping and fees $4500 sale price. Set your bid at $3500 and walk away. You will lose 80% of what you bid on. But the 20% that you win is where your Monster Profits live. This strategy works. How do I know? Because I have used it repeatedly to learn about and sell products I don't know anything about. If you’re risk-averse, this is the way to get started. Want to sell fragrances? Visit every store near you that sells fragrances and ask them if they will buy from you. Call and email every e-commerce business you can find that sells fragrances. Want to sell Kohler products? Talk to every home flipper, remodeler, realtor, and contractor that you can find. Small sellers are better and easier to work with. You have nothing to lose but some time and research. You owe it to yourself to do more. If you found this post useful, I would love your follow @ShannonJean, like, and repost. I’m here on X daily to connect with great people. Cheers to your success!
What’s the first step to making $10K selling liquidation products? Getting a Resale Permit Why? Because companies like Costco, Amazon, Target and more won’t sell to you without one. These companies will only sell their excess inventory and customer returns to businesses. The first step in experimenting is to register for a Resale Permit for your state. Even if you never use it. Once you get a Resale Permit, you can register on the liquidation sites and begin researching. Here’s how to get your Resale Permit: Step 1: Never pay anyone to get a Resale Permit! Some companies will charge you to apply for the permit. Your State will give you one for free. Search online for “Your State Name + Resale Permit” or “Your State Name + Reseller Permit.” Be sure you are applying on a government website for your State. Not some intermediary that will charge you a fee. Most states will issue you the permit quickly, some instantly and others within a few days. If you have Resale Permit questions, DM me here – I am happy to help. Cheers to your success!

BREAKING: Russia’s President Putin has proposed a meeting with President Trump and President Xi to negotiate an end to the war with Ukraine, per WSJ. The meeting is proposed for next month and was floated on an October 9th phone call with President Trump. This was the same call that produced a deal for the US to buy Russian diesel.

Secretary @SecScottBessent. Director @FBIDirectorKash. @HSBC paid $1.92 billion. No one went to jail. I was the whistleblower. 14 years later, @BankofAmerica admits it willfully broke the law, pays $1.2 billion, and no one goes to jail. 3.6 million Americans read my letter. You haven’t responded. So I’m asking on camera: who is going to be charged?
