I’ll add to this that Nigerians approach immigration from the jump with a certain level of fair that is unexplainable. I get it in a way, but I don’t get it. There’s a certain mental laziness that comes with this fear. It starts from the application process, many never go online themselves to check for information but rely exclusively on overpaid β€œexperts.” This approach translates to everyday life. Nigerians only engage with Nigerian or other experts on policies waiting for β€œupdates” etc. No curiosity to engage the local community and a phobia for working within the overall system. Phobia for police, for tax authorities, politicians etc. it’s ultimately PTSD too because of the relationship we have with authority back home whereas you can engage authority and even demand from them abroad. This is a very serious conversation we need to actually have, one that I’ve spent a lot of time on.
I have spent years trying to debunk this. The entrepreneurial spirit Nigerians have quickly falters when we immigrate (ofcourse entrepreneurship in Nigeria is a little different than we are used to, but I digress), except around things that service other fellow Nigerians/Africans (restaurants, lounges, African stores, immigration consultation, buying scrap cars and exporting etc - these businesses usually cannot serve the broader community at scale and usually get into the "bad belle" politics of the Nigerian community. We also usually don't formalize and structure them adequately for many reasons - story for another day). Indians, Arab, Chinese etc. move and almost immediately, with community and immigration support, look to start businesses that support the local community (Ukrainian refugees who fled the war in 2022 are already another example) but also with almost unified support from a well integrated immigrant community - who have established themselves in the banking and financial system, local politics, business leadership etc. Nigerians, on the other hand remain individualistic and compete with each other with the only semblance of unity being via religious institutions (and not broadly, like Nigerian Christians, more like "Redeem members") or maybe professional associations. The few who break this cycle don't see themselves as members of the broader Nigerian immigrant community with a responsibility to said community. This discussion needs to be had, I am very open to it.

i started experiencing inner peace when i realised that the work never ends, in every aspect of life. There’s no amount of work you do today that exempts you from the work due tomorrow. So do your best, but also remember to pace yourself.

The world is a museum of passion projects, Mom edition 😭 cc @collision
It’s actually crazy how you grow up thinking home-cooked meals every day are just normal, then get older and realise how much time and effort it took your Mom to make that happen and how lucky you were to have that.

Please Everyone, I need your help. From the accident, she has fractures in her hand, leg, and pelvic region. The doctor said the surgery will cost about ₦5 million. It is extensive and will be done in two phases. First they will operate on her hand and leg. When she recovers from that, they will do the pelvic region. It has been a painful experience. We have already spent so much on drugs and medications just to keep her stable this far. The pain is still there every day. A lot of you have followed this from the day of the accident. You have seen the updates. You know what this has been like. Please, if your heart can move you, even ₦1k, ₦2k, ₦5k, ₦10k, or ₦20k from you will help us. Every little bit carries weight right now. Kuda Microfinance Bank 2004212740 Ekpo Richard Unwana If you want to confirm or even visit to see how she is doing, please call or WhatsApp me on 08014616027. Please help me share this too. Building Brimble is the hardest thing i've done in my life and to be honest I am kind of suprised to see it's still standing, it's so crazy because we don't support local builders enough and if it's in S.F it's the other way round 1) You get constantly compared to vercel/railway and it's sad because if you want to get people in this space to use it to you need to ship features to the quality they have already set (either same quality or you go higher) 2) After shipping almost the same quality, local users here still force you to make decisions by cutting cost of your product, just because you want them to use it and at the end of the day, you still get compared and you even have no choice. 3) I and abraham have been constantly bootstrapping the product for the last 4 years, so we only scale on demand. We don't have the luxury to throw money into compute unncessarily. 4) There were different iterations of the product just to get PMF, the directions changed about 2-3 times between the years. 5) oh fine, "enterprise" has the money. But at the same time, you need a good amount of money to get the licenses to support enterprise and at the same time, some enterprise will look down on you especially when it's just 2 engineers managing the product, ever since we got the idea in 2022. You do performance and security audits yourself, you need to be extremely stable (just with a team of 2 and after all that, you still get compared. It's very much fine, but nobody gives a damn) 6) Brimble literally has everything (databases, sandboxes, fullstack deployments, autoscaling, static outbound ips e.t.c). Strived to succeed 7) You are also trying to pitch to investors, in a case where some of them don't have a clue or the nuances involved in what you are building. The best everyone has to do is support local products, supporting local products even gives you as a user a ton of advantage. You control the type of features you want, the prices is very affordable for you, you'd get the maximum support you need without having to send emails or wait for 3 business days to get feedbacks. A few angels really believes in the vision and fingers crossed, really love it. But at the end of the day, it still seems you aren't good enough for people to use you. I'm extremely grateful for people that took all of these out of their mind to actually support us in terms of using the product end to end. Sharing reasonable feedbacks and also sticking around even when it had issues. If i have the opportunity to do this again, i would peacefully decline.

I admire the purity of your thoughts: they are never polluted by the slightest trace of reflection or lucidity. If one day you were accused of intelligence, know that I would plead for your innocence.
Asake left YBNL and Olamide disappeared from his shows. The same Olamide that used to pull up for him is now suddenly quiet and busy. Brother for life only lasts as long as the contract does.

I have been talking about my wife’s accident. Today I want to talk about the man who saved her. @iam_mcroyal Mr Adeniyi Adeyemi When it happened, people were saying she was not alive. He refused to leave her there. He kept her conscious. He gave first aid. He made sure an ambulance took her. He stayed till midnight. And he has not stopped. He has been coming every day to see her. Checking on her. He left last night by 9pm Showing care. Just a good man wothna good heart who decided to be different. In this country, a lot of people run from accident scenes. They are scared of the police. They are scared of trouble. So they look and walk away. He did not. That choice is the reason my wife is recovering. That choice changed my family. I cannot appreciate him enough. If you see this, help me thank him. Pray for him. Bless him. @iam_mcroyal Thank you. God bless you and everything that concerns you. I and my family will not forget.

I am no longer afraid of things falling apart. I have seen what happens after the worst of it. The sun still rises, people still laugh, new things still begin, and one day, you find yourself happy about something you once thought you would never recover from.
