C'est avec une profonde tristesse que j'apprends ce soir le décès de l'épouse de M. Jean Claude Karerwa Ndenzako, Chef du Bureau chargé des affaires politiques, sociales et culturelles à la Présidence de la République du #Burundi, des suites d'une maladie. Je partage la peine de sa famille et présente mes sincères condoléances à lui-même, à ses enfants et à toute la famille éprouvée. Que Dieu l'accueille dans sa paix éternelle et réconforte tous ses proches.

C'est avec une profonde émotion que j'apprends l'hospitalisation de Sa Sainteté le Pape Léon XIV, opéré avec succès à Rome. Au nom du peuple Burundais et en mon nom propre, je lui adresse mes pensées fraternelles. Nous implorons le Seigneur de lui accorder un prompt et complet rétablissement. Que Dieu le garde et le fortifie.

C'est avec une immense fierté que j'accueille le renouvellement du mandat du #Burundi au Conseil des Droits de l'Homme pour la période 2027-2029. Cette décision des États membres des Nations Unies est une marque de confiance et de considération envers notre pays, et elle reconnaît les efforts que nous menons pour la promotion et la protection des Droits Humains. J’exprime ma profonde gratitude à tous les États membres, et particulièrement aux États membres africains, pour l’endossement de la candidature burundaise. Leur solidarité a été déterminante. Je félicite l'ensemble de nos diplomates, pour leur coordination stratégique et leur engagement constant. Ce résultat leur doit beaucoup. Cette confiance nous oblige. Le Burundi continuera d'œuvrer, dans le dialogue, le respect mutuel et la coopération multilatérale, pour la promotion et la protection des Droits de l'Homme, la dignité de tous et pour un monde plus juste. Que Dieu bénisse le Burundi.

On behalf of the citizens of the Republic of #Burundi and in my capacity as the Chair of the African Union, I extend my warm congratulations to His Excellency Dr. Abiy Ahmed Ali (@AbiyAhmedAli ) upon his re-election as Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of #Ethiopia. I wish Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed every success during his renewed mandate. It is my sincere hope that the people of Ethiopia will experience continued progress, unity, and prosperity as the nation works toward achieving its strategic national priorities. The African Union reiterates its steadfast commitment to partnering with the Government and the people of Ethiopia to promote enduring peace, regional stability, enhanced cooperation, and shared economic development across the continent.

J’ai reçu la Coordination des Forces Nationales Soudanaises, conduite par M. Mohamed Said Ahmed. Ils m’ont remis un mémorandum appelant à l’activation du principe des « solutions africaines aux problèmes africains ». Je les remercie de leur confiance et de leur engagement pour la paix. Le Soudan appartient aux Soudanais : c’est de leur volonté nationale que naîtra la solution. L’Union africaine reste pleinement mobilisée. J’appelle toutes les parties à saisir la voie du dialogue, car la paix est possible lorsque la volonté est sincère.

C’est avec une immense tristesse que j’ai appris le tragique accident aérien survenu à Kenge, dans la province du Kwango, qui a coûté la vie au Lieutenant-Général Joseph Mutombo Katalayi Tiende, Premier Président de la Haute Cour militaire, et au Lieutenant-Général Lucien-René Likulia Bakumi, Auditeur Général des FARDC, ainsi qu’aux membres de leur délégation et à l’équipage. En cette douloureuse épreuve, j’adresse, au nom du Peuple et du Gouvernement Burundais, ainsi qu’en mon nom propre, mes condoléances les plus attristées à Son Excellence le Président Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, aux familles endeuillées, au haut commandement des FARDC et à l’ensemble du Peuple congolais. Le Burundi, uni par des liens fraternels indéfectibles à la République Démocratique du Congo, s’incline avec respect devant la mémoire des disparus et exprime sa pleine solidarité au Peuple frère congolais. Que le Tout-Puissant accorde Sa consolation aux familles éprouvées et accueille les âmes des défunts dans Son éternelle paix.

It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, young brother of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai and Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. On behalf of the Government and people of Burundi, and in my capacity as Chairperson of the African Union, I extend my heartfelt condolences to His Highness, the Royal Family, the Government and the people of the United Arab Emirates.

Dans le cadre du processus de paix au Soudan, je viens de recevoir une délégation venue de Khartoum, conduite par le Lieutenant-Général Mohammed Ali Siber, Envoyé spécial de Son Excellence Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, porteur d’un message. Au cours de cette audience, l’engagement en faveur de la paix au Soudan a été réaffirmé et une feuille de route a été présentée. Je me réjouis que toutes les parties se montrent réceptives au cessez-le-feu et au processus politique.

It is with great joy and deep fraternal affection that I extend, on my own behalf and on behalf of the people of #Burundi, my warmest wishes to His Excellency @AbiyAhmedAli , Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of #Ethiopia, and to the courageous and resilient people of Ethiopia, as they welcome a new year. Ethiopia holds a singular place in the heart of our continent. As the cradle of African diplomacy and proud host of the African Union's headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia has long stood as a living symbol of the unity, independence and dignity that generations of Africans have fought for. I have personally witnessed, through Ethiopia's hospitality and steadfast partnership, the depth of this nation's commitment to our shared continental project. On this New Year, I pray for the Ethiopian people peace in their homes, unity among their communities, and prosperity in their endeavors. As Chairperson of our Union, I reaffirm my personal solidarity with Ethiopia and my unwavering commitment, alongside all Member States, to building the united, peaceful and prosperous #Africa that Ethiopia has done so much to inspire. With profound sorrow, I have learned of the passing of Hafidh Ameir Hassan, husband of Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. On my own behalf, and on behalf of the Government and people of Burundi, I extend my deepest condolences to President Samia, her family, and the people of Tanzania. In this hour of grief, Burundi stands firmly beside our Tanzanian brothers and sisters. May the Almighty grant President Samia and her family comfort and strength in this difficult moment, and may He grant eternal rest to the soul of Hafidh Ameir Hassan.

Après avoir reçu, le 10 juillet 2026, la délégation envoyée de Khartoum par Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, je me réjouis d’avoir également reçu ce 04 septembre 2026 la délégation de Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. Les échanges ont permis aux deux parties de réaffirmer leur attachement au rétablissement d’une paix durable au Soudan.

It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway, who departed this life on 28 August 2026 after 35 years of dedicated reign. On behalf of the people and Government of Burundi, I extend heartfelt condolences to King Haakon VIII, the Royal Family, and the Norwegian people. King Harald’s legacy of humility, wisdom, and service will long be remembered. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
