#OTD in 1926, Carl Monismith was born in Pennsylvania. He spent an incredible 70 years on campus at @UCBerkeley as a student and faculty member. In 2012 he delivered the first Monismith Lecture on Pavement Engineering. He passed away in 2025 and is missed every day.
Carl was an absolute giant in pavement engineering. He was the recipient of the 1978 @ASCETweets State of the Art Award. The Monismith Lecture has been awarded every year since 2012.
