Three children in a Kenilworth UK garden, July 1939. We had just arrived arrived from Germany, via the Kindertransport. Today, 80 years later, 2500 Euros landed in my bank a/c, compensation from the German government paid to each surviving Kindertransport child. #kindertransport

This is Leonard Montefiore who masterminded the plan to bring child Holocaust survivors to the UK after the war. He wanted to care for them as best he could and that is why he set up hostels like the one in Ascot that would have a family atmosphere.
