Linus Torvalds shares his thoughts on Anti-AI coding rules on Linux mailing list.

Steam is finally making the switch to 64-bit on Linux! 🐧 Valve’s latest Steam client beta upgrades the Linux client to a 64-bit application, reducing its reliance on legacy 32-bit libraries. The update also moves the client into the Steam Runtime container, aiming to deliver a more consistent experience across different Linux distributions. This follows the SteamRT3 beta earlier this year, which laid the groundwork for these changes. A welcome upgrade for Linux gamers! Follow us to become a better Linux user.

I'm building an offline music player for android. I'm soon starting a closed beta to try and get the player into the play store. I'm grateful for anyone who's willing to join the beta test. Here's the official invite: Hey! I built a music player for Android: AMP Player. It plays music files stored on your phone and remembers its own shuffle state for every playlist and folder – no song repeats until all of them have played, even across restarts and car rides. In the car over Bluetooth it pauses and resumes exactly when it should. Before the app can go into the Play Store, Google requires a test with at least 12 people over 14 days. Want to help? You need: an Android phone (Android 8+) and music files on the phone (MP3, FLAC etc. – Spotify & co. won’t do). A car with Bluetooth is a bonus. - Join the group here (with the Google account you use for the Play Store on your phone): groups.google.com/g/amp-play… - Once the test starts, I’ll send you the link to install it from the Play Store. - Keep the app installed for 14 days and use it now and then. If you leave earlier, you sadly won’t count. Free, no ads, no account, the app collects no data. Thanks!

🤡 Microsoft is bringing Microsoft Defender to Linux desktops. The company says the move is aimed at securing Linux desktops as more developers begin using Linux, complementing its existing support for Linux server environments. Microsoft Defender for Linux desktop is available through Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 or Microsoft 365 E5 and E7 subscriptions.

“A lot of people make fun of vibe coding, but I think it’s a wonderful way to find joy in programming. It makes you feel like you’re doing something relevant. It allows you, as a new programmer, to do things that you would otherwise have a really hard time with.” That's what Linus Torvalds said at the Open Source Summit Europe in Prague.
