In a turn of events that will make the "Physical Media is King!" crowd cry, I had to turn to Prime to continue watching a show we started on DVD About 4 years back I ordered the complete Stargate set from Amazon and my wife and I have been going through it. We got to disc 3 of season 2 last night and with 10 minutes left in the episode, the image appeared to scramble and after a few seconds audio began to pop until it became noise. I tried the disc on another player and the same issue occured. Checked the bottom of the disc and sure enough, on my FIRST time going through the set, the black markings on the edge associated with disc rot were showing. Fortunately, Prime has Atlantis right now so we could finish the episode. Just wanted to highlight this story for those "if it's on disc you own it forever" folks so they understand that sometimes a relatively new disc can still fail and it's a lot more frustrating than a show being taken off a streaming service, since I have said disc in my hand.

This is a "trust me bro" quote if I ever heard one. First off, people are acting like Kotaku has any journalistic integrity left and running with this $500 million quote for Gears E-Day like it's gospel. When you click on the article (and shower immediately afterwards for clicking a Kotaku link) you'll see the infamous SINGLE source is one "familiar with XBOX's business." Does this mean they work at XBOX and are involved in actual budget meetings? Or just some dude that works at the office for The Coalition as a developer or sanitation engineer? Maybe it means he works for another gaming blog, follows Xbox on social media and is therefore "familiar with their business." Ask for your gaming journalists to do better and stop falling for click bait. Especially from activist sites like Kotaku who are more likely to virtue signal because of layoffs than actually investigate a report.

I wish they'd been given the option to escape EA like XBOX gave to their studios. This is a HUGE loss for gaming, even if their last few major titles were weak. My love for @bioware goes ALL the way back to Shattered Steel, when I ran across it on a @pcgamer demo disk and thought it was a fun mech game. Then they created Baldur's Gate which really brought me head first into Forgotten Realms after I hadn't played D&D for a few years. Their Infinity Engine RPGs refined the CRPG genre and inspired numerous games in the early 00s. KOTOR was an amazing OG XBOX exclusive that's still amazing 20+ years later. Then we got Mass Effect. The Mass Effect trilogy is on the same tier as the Halo trilogy in my favorite game series. With Zelda, they round out my top 3 favorite franchises of all time. Even if Andromeda wasn't as great as the originals, I was really looking forward to ME5. At least we've still got @EXODUSGame and @TheExpanseRPG coming next year

I try keeping politics off the main feed but this kind of stuff needs awareness. We're being told this is a "cost of living" protest yet here's a group of "protestors" causing violence and chaos in Nice and a game shop owner who makes less than minimum wage, once his hours are added up, doesn't want to see his life's work go up in flames. He's mocked and attacked and has his store destroyed anyway. None of this has to do with the cost of living. None of this has to do with schools not having enough teachers for students. This is meaningless rage and destruction disguised by useful idiots that think they're protesting for a good cause. If you think the US is safe from this, you're wrong. The same patterns that happened in Europe to cause these cultural clashes have been happening here on a roughly 8-10 year delay. They're not just targeting high visibility targets like churches and classical public buildings. The terrorists are going after everyday shop owners, and let's be clear, this is terrorism disguised as a protest. It's a group that doesn't create, they only destroy and France needs to start pushing back if they don't want to lose their country. If you want to know what's coming, read a certain Manifesto where it talks of a veiled civil war. It gets more violent and has yet to end well for anyone other than those that seize power during the chaos.
