Excited to share a beta of Nook, a home maintenance app my 11-year-old son Vedant and I built together! nook.keel-labs.org/
Nook helps families keep track of the systems, maintenance tasks, warranties, documents, and notes behind their home.

Spent the weekend with Meta's @Muse, and they got a lot right.
- Every user gets their own VM.
- The agent never sees a password.
- A 2nd agent (Sentinel) has to approve anything that leaves the box.
- Every action is in the audit trail.
That's the most careful consumer agent sandbox I've used.
I don't know if folks realize but a VM for every user, at Meta scale, is kinda huge! It's never been done before where we simply provision a linux microVM for every single consumer.
We recently did this within @Cisco for over 80,000 of our employees. And now within our products as well as we start to scale it out to every single one of our users.

- Ask โAsk Nookโ questions like โWhat maintenance is coming up?โ or โWhere is my water heater manual?โ We built this as homeownership creates a lot of small details that are hard to keep track of. Try it here, and let Vedant and I know what you think: nook.keel-labs.org/

I have been building Keel with Claude Code for the past several weeks, and the longer we work together, the more familiar a particular dynamic feels.
Here is what I mean.
Keel (keel-labs.org/) is built on a strong principle: local first. No telemetry, no sync, your data stays on your device. That principle has shaped almost every architectural choice we have made.
But users are asking for things that bump against it. They want a mobile companion app for iOS and Android. They are asking whether there will ever be a hosted version. That is real signal, the kind you cannot just wave away. So I sat down with Claude Code and said: put the local-first principle on the shelf for an afternoon. Just a thought exercise. How would we make a mobile companion app actually work?
And every single time, Claude cannot quite do it.
It does not reject the idea. It is too polite for that. It nods along. It acknowledges the user signal. And then, three responses in, it is back to "of course, this would need to respect our local-first architecture," quietly bending the new idea back into the old shape.
It feels exactly like talking to a tenured colleague. The one who has been at the company for many, many years, who has lived through three rewrites of the same system, who is genuinely smart and genuinely supportive, and who, without meaning to, cannot see the shape of the room from the outside anymore.
Every alignment meeting ends the same way: warmly, and not actually aligned.
For a while I thought this was a Claude problem. Now I think it is a context problem. Claude has been swimming in the Keel codebase, the Keel CLAUDE.md, the Keel decisions, for weeks. Of course it sees the world through Keel-shaped glasses. A human in the same seat would do the same thing.

I clear the context and start a new conversation that does not know what Keel is yet. I open a second agent in parallel and compare notes. Sometimes I switch providers entirely and let a model that has never seen Keel give me its first read. The answers I get back are sometimes naive, occasionally wrong, often less polished. But they are not pre-aligned to my own assumptions, and that is exactly the point.
Long context windows are not the same as good judgment. Sometimes the only way to think fresh is to find someone who has not been in the room.

Heads up if you've downloaded Keel before: I'm shipping updates almost every day. v0.3.2 is the latest and adds auto-updates + a daily changelog, so once you're on it you'll always stay current. Grab it here: keel-labs.github.io

A small confession: The that keeps pulling me back to my own product is not the headline feature. It is a loading message that made me laugh.
I'm building Keel (keel-labs.org/), an AI work companion I use every day. And the parts of it I am most attached to are the parts a reasonable PM would cut first.
4/5: Keel examples:
๐ญ ๐ฃ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐. You can pick how Keel talks to you. Butler ("Right then, Medha."). Hype Friend ("You CRUSHED it!"). Captain ("Course plotted, Cap'n."). A Documentary Narrator with Attenborough energy. None of this sounds like a V0 feature; but it is because it impacts how you feel.
๐ญ ๐ง๐ต๐ถ๐ป๐ธ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ฒ๐. While the model is working, the loader cycles through 100-something lines. "Brewing the chai." "Boiling the ocean." "Rewriting the first sentence for the 8th time." Turning an unavoidable loading state into a tiny joke costs almost nothing, but changes the feeling of waiting from friction to gift. Full disclosure - this takes inspiration from Claude's loading state, but the messages are my own.
๐๏ธ ๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐๐ต๐ฏ๐ผ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฑ. One screen with the shape of your day. Where you left off yesterday, what is on deck, the weather, a quote, recent activity. I built it because, if you're like me and you have kids, there's a tendency to forget what you were working on the previous day, so it feels good to come back to a well organized set of notes from yesterday and pick up where you left off.
5/5: I've had to kill delight features many times in past big-company roadmaps. Every time, you trade a little love for a little velocity. You don't notice the bill until users describe your product as "fine."
