Nancy Lacore, a three-star U.S. Navy vice admiral with 35 years of military service, is on the verge of a stunning Democratic victory in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District. In August 2025, Trump's Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth removed Lacore from her position as commander of the Navy Reserve. No public explanation was given. But instead of disappearing quietly, she entered politics. And she chose one of the most difficult battlegrounds imaginable: a traditionally Republican district previously represented by MAGA firebrand Nancy Mace. Now, with more than 98% of ballots counted, Lacore is leading Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt by approximately 0.7 percentage points. A recount is expected because the margin is so narrow. Think about the irony. Trump's administration removed a decorated admiral from military leadership. Now that same admiral could help Democrats take control of the House of Representatives. Hegseth took away her command. American voters may give her a seat in Congress. Sometimes political revenge doesn't require a single angry word. Just a ballot. P.S.
