Megalon's design was inspired by the traits of several different types of insects. Special effects director Teruyoshi Nakano stated that its face was based on the Japanese rhinoceros beetle, its body on cicadas, and its movements on grasshoppers.

Megaguirus begins life as a Giant Meganulon. After the Meganula swarm infuses it with Godzilla's stolen energy, it molts into its imago stage and becomes Megaguirus. Godzilla's energy causes it to take on more reptilian, Godzilla-like features.

A focal point in the publicity around 「The Return of Godzilla」 (1984) was the 16 foot tall, 1.2 ton full Godzilla animatronic, dubbed "Cybot Godzilla." Prominently featured in marketing and on the film's main poster, it was relegated mostly to close up shots in the film itself.

The Cybot Godzilla's design differed from the suit which was primarily used to portray the monster, notably possessing a larger head, shorter neck, and slimmer body. As a result, Godzilla 1984 figures specifically based on the Cybot have been produced.

Gorosaurus was modeled by Nobuyuki Yasumaru, who would go on to succeed Teizo Toshimitsu as Toho's chief modeler. A balloon was placed inside the suit to create throat movements. The mechanism to open its mouth made the head so heavy that it needed to be attached to piano wire.

「Godzilla vs. Megaguirus」 (2000) begins by showing Godzilla's initial 1954 attack on Tokyo. This was depicted by both compositing shots of the new Godzilla suit into footage from the original 「Godzilla」 (1954) as well as recreating shots from that film with the new suit.

The shot of Godzilla approaching the National Diet Building did not reuse footage from the original film, but rather composited footage of Godzilla and flames into on-location footage of a 1:25 scale model of the building from the Tobu World Square theme park.

In 「Godzilla Raids Again」 (1955), the Anguirus suit's carapace was originally split into two separate pieces. They were ultimately joined together because they continuously peeled apart during filming. The Osaka port battle was filmed before this, so the effect is still seen.

The Kumonga prop in 「Son of Godzilla」 (1967) was approximately 5 meters long, and required a crew of nearly 20 puppeteers on a beam above the set to operate it. The complexity of the wirework caused filming of the climactic battle between Godzilla and Kumonga to take two days.

Shinichi Sekizawa reportedly included the Giant Condor in his script for 「Operation Robinson Crusoe: King Kong vs. Ebirah」 as an homage to the Pteranodon that Kong battled in the 1933 film. It was retained when the script was retooled into 「Ebirah, Horror of the Deep」 (1966).

The Giant Condor was portrayed with a modified Rodan prop previously used in 「Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster」 (1964) and 「Invasion of Astro-Monster」 (1965), which had most recently been altered to depict the monsters Litra and Larugeus in the show 「Ultra Q」 (1966).
