Maybank Championship Picks:
- Esther Henseleit (50/1; 5 Places)
- Erika Hara (125/1; 5)
Considered just going with Erika but like Esther enough to include. Top of the board's terrifying. Will be doubling Hae-ran with Clark but taking the third favourite at 8/1 isn't for me.
Mexico Open Picks:
- Max Homa (41/1 Win; 7/1 Top 5 inc. ties)
- Kevin Yu (64/1 Win; 17/2 Top 5 inc. ties)
- Joel Dahmen (200/1; 6 Places)
Put some free bets on Wyndham Clark at 12/1 too just to make sure that if Scottsdale wins, we all win.
Did everyone else realise that you basically have to be a Scottsdale guy (Rahm, Finau, Knapp) or have a deal with the devil (Campbell) to win at Vidanta Vallarta? Good news for Wyndham Clark (Scottsdale & Devil) and Max Homa (just Scottdale, I think). Joel Dahmen, too, I guess.
Trying to work out how insane it would be to bet somebody (who's on my blacklist) coming off the two worst ballstriking weeks of his career at 60/1 just because the rest of the board is so sad looking. Three weeks is a long time to get your game back in working order, though...
Wow... Christo Lamprecht has been disgustingly bad this year, huh? 15 MCs in 20 and no finish better than a T48. I knew he'd not been good but don't think I realised how bad it was.
I've had Yuto Katsuragawa at 200/1 on the DPWT this year, Yoshida at 500/1 on the LPGA and Smotherman at 500/1 on the PGA. All longshots I chased wins on earlier in the year hitting in the same week. Maybe I should just have the same card every week on every Tour until it works.
If Séamus Power wins tomorrow, he will have three PGA Tour wins without having beaten a Top 60 player in the OWGR in any of them. In fact, across all three events, there've only been 12 Top 100 OWGR golfers (one was him). Could be the worst first three wins in PGA Tour history.
I think the 'event being cut short at 54-holes when the 100/1 shot I have bet five places on is in 6th' was the only dumb way I hadn't yet lost money on golf this year so that's nice. At least I never have to back Ben Kohles again. That's a win, in and of itself.
I think the fairest thing would be to just judge everyone by their two best rounds, and decide the winner that way. Definitely not just saying this because there are only two players in the Top 20 who've shot over par rounds and I'm on both. Chan Kim has earned this win.
It's kind of crazy that Vijay Singh, who won three times in a month on the PGA Tour at age 45, and 22 PGA Tour events (!) total in his 40s, has only won six events in thirteen years on the Champions Tour. Feels like he should've been dominating alongside Stricker.
BMW Ladies Championship Picks:
Hyo-joo Kim (18/1 Win)
You-min Hwang (66/1; 5)
Hyun-jo Yoo (66/1; 5)
Yealimi Noh (75/1; 5)
Soo-bin Joo (125/1; 5)
Falling into the HJK trap again. FOMO with Yealimi. Don't really think she'll play well but have to bet her for peace of mind.
Genesis Championship Picks:
- Na-cho Elvira (90/1; 3 Places)
- Woo-young Cho (400/1; 8)
- Min-gyu Cho (1000/1; 8)
Cho time!
Bermuda Championship Picks:
- Ben Kohles (50/1; 3 Places)
- John VanDerLaan (90/1; 5)
- Chan Kim (100/1; 5)
- Nick Dunlap (300/1; 5)
One last time with Ben Kohles. No, he cannot win on the PGA Tour but... this isn't really a PGA Tour event. I will apologise for Nick Dunlap.
Remember when Hillier played the first thirteen holes of the tournament in 4-over? Good times. Going win only always seems to guarantee a place.
India Championship Picks:
- Daniel Hillier (39/1)
- Casey Jarvis (43/1)
- Bernd Wiesberger (60/1)
- Joakim Lagergren (74/1)
- Matteo Manassero (279/1)
All win only. Wouldn't usually back Joakim again after tracking him last week but a course that requires no driver sounds good.
Buick LPGA Shanghai Picks:
- Arpichaya Yubol (50/1; 5)
- Yealimi Noh (60/1; 5)
- Grace Kim (66/1; 5)
- Jenny Bae (70/1; 5)
- Menghan Li (400/1; 5)
Should just bet one of the top four. Absolutely hopeless betting against them, and yet here we are. Will regret leaving out Auston.
In 2023, I had 3rd at the LPGA Shanghai. In 2024, I had the runner-up. Last year, I had a pick hit 1/66 in-play, somehow end up in a playoff, and lose it to Jeeno who literally hit a ball in the water during the playoff. Looking forward to seeing where we can even go from there.
39 different golfers have won multiple times on Tour since Cantlay's last win, and 34 have done it since Burns' but they're both still near the top of every odds board. Finau and Homa both having two wins since Cantlay's last really puts into perspective how long it's been.
