Good Business Lab (GBL) and the Retailers Association of India (RAI) are collaborating to drive action on people-centric wellbeing solutions for the retail industry. RAI will convene key stakeholders across the ecosystem, while GBL will contribute research expertise to support evidence-building, shared learning, and identification of priority areas for action, informed by consultations with retailers. As one of the first steps in this partnership, we participated in RAI’s Ekam Summit, where Smit Gade, Senior Director, Research & Field at GBL, moderated a panel on what measurable DEI outcomes can look like in practice. The discussion brought together leaders from across the retail ecosystem, including Sanchita Ghosh (Titan Company Ltd.), Bani Khurana Shaikh (Reliance Retail), Shubra Singh (IKEA), Nabamita Banerjee (Shoppers Stop), Maya Fuke (Nexus), and Neelam Ahluwalia (BigBasket), who shared perspectives on translating DEI commitments into operational realities. In the same forum, Eshika Gombar, Associate Director, Growth at GBL, gave a talk on GBL's portfolio of projects across gender, health, livelihoods, climate, and workplace environment, as well as shared potential solutions pathways for building a diverse and inclusive retail sector. If you are a retailer interested in shaping and piloting people-centric interventions, reach out to us at [email protected]. #Retail #DEI #WorkerWellbeing #FutureOfWork #GoodJobs

Catch us in Mumbai! We're on-site at the Mumbai Climate Week at the Jio World Convention Centre, joining the city-wide convening of government, business, civil society, foundations, and multilaterals focused on citizen-driven climate action and Global South priorities. We are here to connect with partners working on what it takes to make climate adaptation implementable and measurable for the people most exposed to risk, especially frontline workers in workplaces and supply chains. If you are attending and want to connect, DM us to set up a quick meeting. #MCW2026 #WorkerWellbeing #ClimateResilience

A clear takeaway from the Economic Survey 2025-26 is that job quality will be won or lost inside workplaces. Across sectors and policy themes, from employment patterns and women’s participation to labour reforms and skilling, the Survey points to the same reality: intent matters, but conditions at work determine outcomes. The real test is translation, building practical, workplace-based systems that improve wellbeing, strengthen voice, and make “more jobs” also mean “good jobs”. Learn how these priorities translate on the shop floor through case studies and evidence from our work.
