It's why I don't like calling dyslexia a "learning difference." I would rather openly acknowledge the challenge that it presents.
Just one of the dyslexia myths Jen O’Sullivan is debunking in her latest Substack post.

In NYC, teachers are now writing report cards. One item on these is a Guided Reading Level. I was asked to do a correlation between the words in the books used to assign a GR Level and what was taught in the phonics program. Here is what I found. What does the GR level tell us?

I found this discussion of dyslexia fascinating. From Julian Elliott coauthor of The Dyslexia Debate (2014) & The Dyslexia Debate Revisited (2024). So many issues that need to be considered—including equity for all learners. capitlearning.com/webinar-10…

Brain Veins as Light Detectors: A New Path to Deep Brain Imaging
Researchers developed a groundbreaking method to detect bioluminescence deep within the brain by engineering blood vessels to serve as light detectors.
This innovative approach utilizes a bacterial protein that causes blood vessels to dilate in response to light.
This dilation is then captured by MRI, allowing for precise localization of bioluminescent signals.
This technique, named bioluminescence imaging using hemodynamics (BLUsH), offers a novel way to study brain functions and gene expression without the limitations imposed by traditional optical imaging methods.
