Today we continued our current project of cutting back the foliage and opening up the tree canopy alongside the Trans Pennine Trail. All in all a good, productive day, letting more sunshine through to the woodland floor, with a couple of bags of litter collected for good measure.

After a rainy start our volunteers enjoyed a good sunny session working with YWT today up on the meadow. Cutting back vegetation and clearing it away. We also had a visit from YWT Chief Executive Officer, Rachael Bice. Who came to see the work we are doing and mucked in a bit.

A small team of our volunteers worked with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust today on clearing the wader bays at Sprotbrough Flash. It’s important work to provide a safe habitat for migrating birds.

Today a few of our volunteers rescued the gate from the Sprotbrough Water Pump site. It had been recovered on an earlier session only for someone to feel the need to throw it back in the water! It’s safe and sound now having received a bit of TLC, all ready for a coat of paint.

Today’s task was to get the new sign at the Old Pump site installed, hopefully before it got too hot. Mission accomplished. Also three bags of litter collected from the TPT and Nursery Lane.

Another very warm and sweaty session for our volunteers today. Work carried out included repairs and tidying up litter (2 bags collected) to the first bird hide after some scruffy and destructive visitors! Work up on the meadow to remove the saplings, it will take more visits
