That wasn’t stressful. That wasn’t a stressful game of baseball at all.

Division 2. One team shines most here, but what about the rest of them? @WadeBatesRadio and Beaver Dam brings in a Brookfield Central program who knows how to make state playoff runs. That seed could be misleading given that program’s pedigree. Monona Grove getting the top seed in their sectional, but there’s no shortage of firepower in that grouping with Marshfield, Elkhorn, and defending D3 champion Grafton in that mix. Union Grove is a program who we expect to see in Madison before too long, and their bracket is a ton of fun with West Bend West’s swan-song before merging back in with East (and a game against rival Slinger). Homestead is in there too, and a deep run for the Highlanders is a real possibility. And of course… Notre Dame. Kingston Allen. Scoring at least 49 points in 8 of their 9 games. Oh, and they’re looking for redemption after falling in the D2 championship last year. Does anyone have what it takes to stop the Tritons from winning it all? #wisfb

Last but not least, Division 1. No shortage of heavyweights no matter where you look here. West De Pere graduates to D1 after winning it all in D2 last year… and their first matchup is against Kimberly of all teams! Not mentioning Chi-Hi, Hudson, and Verona in that bracket as well. Muskego… another Madison mainstay the last couple of years, and they’re in a very southeastern-oriented sectional with Racine Case, Kenosha Indian Trail, and Franklin in the mix. Hamilton. Defending D1 champion Arrowhead. Oconomowoc. 2023 D1 champion Marquette. That sectional has more talent than anyone knows what to do with, and if Arrowhead and Hamilton battle in Level 3, it would be must-see TV! And then… Bay Port. Can the Pirates make it back to Camp Randall? Last year, it ended in absolute heartbreak. Their road to Madison is TOUGH. Win, and you have to battle either Neenah who only lost to Notre Dame by 3 or an extremely talented (and not-talked-about-enough) De Pere squad. Waunakee, SPASH, DC Everest, and Appleton North? Any one of those could make it to Level 3, seeding be damned. Wisconsin… between the World Series and all 120 HS football playoff games… let’s have a weekend! #wisfb

Division 3 was absolute BEDLAM last year. A 4-seed played an 8-seed in the state SEMIFINALS for goodness sake! Reedsburg and Pewaukee could very well rematch again, though it would be in Waukesha County this time if that happens. Whitefish Bay could make another state semifinal appearance (this time with a more favorable seed). Port Washington, Plymouth, AND defending D4 champion Winneconne are in same sectional, and Onalaska is very much alive as a 6-seed La Crosse Logan could make another deep run like they did two years ago and make a trip to Madison too. Catholic Memorial as a 5-seed is jarring to see, but dare I say in good position to win their sectional? Do not be shocked if 2025’s chaos in D3 begets more of the same this year. #wisfb

Division 4… my word. This weekend’s home teams pretty read off the Murderer’s Row lineup that was the 1927 New York Yankees. Freedom needs little introduction. A pesky Lakeside Lutheran squad. A pair of state runners-up from last year in Northwestern AND Little Chute on the left side of the bracket. Lodi won D4 in 2023. Stratford eyeing their 4th gold ball in 5 years. Tyler Wollin and his Lake Mills L-Cats. Edgewood wreaking havoc from the Badger Small. Racine St. Catherine’s who has been no stranger Camp Randall in the last decade. Aquinas whose résumé includes 3 state titles since COVID. West Salem looking for their 5th state trip in the last 25 seasons. Heck, Wrightstown is no stranger to deep playoff runs, and they’re a SIX-SEED this year! #wisfb

Watertown, Wisconsin will host a playoff game this fall, just not at Watertown HS. Division 5 is next. Luther Prep finished 2nd in the Metro Classic and have been rewarded thusly by bringing in Arcadia (which is a hike to say the least). Speaking of hikes, Random Lake/Ozaukee heads from the Lake Michigan neighborhood to the Minnesota border against St. Croix Falls! Mayville is the defending D5 champion, but their road back to Madison has some stiff competition with potential bouts with Grantsburg and top-flight Amherst waiting. #wisfb

Division 6. Positively LOADED. - Lomira is two years removed from their D6 title and have a great seed - Edgar is in that same sectional and looking for Madison-coded redemption as they battle PDC tonight - Defending D7 champion Kenosha St. Joseph looks to make another run and starts their journey with Poynette - Potosi/Cassville graduates a division and will duke it out with the Pointers - Mondovi is one of the favorites but also in a TOUGH sectional - How will Randolph/Cambria-Friesland respond after being forced to share their league title? #wisfb

Smallest of the 11-Man brackets, Division 7 sees another Jefferson County school in its ranks as #8 Waterloo heads to #1 Ithaca/Weston! How will CFC fare as they look for redemption and a return trip to Madison? And McDonell Central… it’s their return to 11-Man after an 8-Mam title game appearance a year ago, so how will the Macks do against Boyceville? #wisfb

Let’s begin with the sweet 16 left in 8-Man! Jefferson County’s own Palmyra-Eagle Panthers will head down Hwy 151 to take on top-seeded Belmont tonight! Other notes for 8-Man: - All 1- and 2-seeds won last week and will host games this weekend - Half of the weekend’s Saturday games can be found here (2/4) - 14 of 16 Level 1 winners won by multiple scores (De Soto and Assumption are the exceptions) #wisfb

Not playing playoff football tonight hurts. Having to wait 43 weeks until kickoff hurts just as badly. We’re going to get back there one day (hopefully sooner rather than later), but that doesn’t mean we can’t whiparound the state and see the 240 teams alive in the playoffs are up to this weekend! #wisfb

Ladies and gentlemen, it was a wild night! Thank you for following along! Unfortunately, this admin will NOT be able to follow our volleyball team to Arrowhead due to prior commitments. That said, we want to wish these girls the best of luck on Saturday, and we hope our student section will be as deafening as they were tonight! Watertown, enjoy this win, and hopefully this isn’t the final time we talk about Gosling fall sports! We’ll see you next time, and have a wonderful evening!
