Our history, culture and people make this place unlike anywhere else—and we’re proud to keep building a future where New Mexico families can thrive. ¡Viva Nuevo México!
This tired New America bit again? 🙄 You have to ask — what policy failure is Trump trying to distract Americans from this time?
Let me repeat: New Mexico was New Mexico long before the United States existed and we’ll be New Mexico forevermore. And while we’re talking about our great state, Americans should also know we’ve been busy delivering universal, no cost child care. We’re also the only state that fully replaced health care subsidies that were gutted by Trump and congressional Republicans.
Independent experts say our elections are among the most secure in the nation. It’s just that Trump can’t seem to accept that voters are rewarding Democrats for policies that make life easier for working families.
¡Viva Nuevo Mexico! 🌶️
Democracy depends on productive disagreement. We don’t have to agree on everything to work together.
Kindness, joy and optimism are how we build relationships, find common ground and deliver for the people we serve. Progress starts by remembering there’s more that connects us than divides us.
Early voting is open statewide now through Saturday, Oct. 31.

My trade missions to Japan were about turning conversations into opportunities for New Mexico. Now, we're seeing those efforts pay off.

Nearly a year in, universal child care is changing what's possible for New Mexico parents.
New research shows that since we made child care free and universal for every New Mexican, low-income mothers have seen:
-18% increase in employment
-23% increase in full-time work
-15% more hours worked each week
For other families, it's opened different doors, like going back to school or spending more time at home.
We're proud that parents now have the freedom to chase new opportunities, knowing their kids are safe, learning, and well cared for.
Research conducted by Arizona State University economist Chris Herbst.
New Mexico is home to 23 sovereign tribes, nations, and pueblos, each with rich cultures, languages, and traditions that have shaped this land for thousands of years.
Today is a day to celebrate Indigenous resilience, recognize the ongoing contributions of Native peoples, and recommit to honoring tribal sovereignty and supporting Indigenous communities.
Happy Indigenous Peoples' Day.

New Mexico has bet big on Quantum, and it’s paying off: our new Quantum Cryogenic Testing & Workforce Development Center at Albuquerque's Roadrunner Quantum Lab will train the next generation of quantum technicians and give companies open access to the cutting-edge equipment they need to test and deploy new technology.
World-class research is happening right here in New Mexico, and New Mexicans will get the chance to help shape the future of this paradigm-shifting technology. I’d call that a win-win!
Great to meet Josh Kerr at Saturday's Lobo game, where we watched UNM beat UTEP 61–7!
Before he became the fastest miler in history, Josh was winning NCAA titles in the mile and 1,500 meters at UNM. In July he ran 3:42.66 in London, breaking a world record that had stood since 1999.
The fastest mile ever run was run by a Lobo. 🐺 #GoLobos

Summer is over. The numbers are in: New Mexico just experienced its hottest summer on record.
Climate change is real and it’s happening right here, right now. That’s why I’ve spent the last eight years taking climate action seriously and positioning New Mexico to lead in the clean energy economy.
Today, more than half of New Mexico’s electricity comes from renewable energy. We surpassed our 50% renewable energy goal five years ahead of schedule. We’ve doubled our wind power capacity, built one of the fastest-growing clean energy workforces in the country and attracted billions of dollars in private clean energy investment.
The data is clear. So is our responsibility. New Mexico will keep leading.
For more than 25 years, trucks bound for WIPP have been rolling down New Mexico highways. As of this week, the Department of Energy is helping with the upkeep: a $10 million grant to rehabilitate the US 285 Relief Route.
Well-maintained roads are a safety measure for every driver using US 285. Thank you to DOE and our congressional delegation for getting this done. It's a solid down payment, and New Mexico will keep asking for the rest.

This weekend, hundreds of balloons will begin filling Albuquerque’s skies for the Balloon Fiesta, one of New Mexico’s favorite traditions.
Whether you’re watching the mass ascension from Balloon Fiesta Park with a breakfast burrito in hand or spotting balloons from across the city, I hope you get a chance to enjoy the magic.
Investing in New Mexico’s families isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s how we build a stronger economy.
From free child care to free college and job training, we’re investing in New Mexicans from cradle to career.
New Mexico is delivering for working families. And if we can do it, the rest of America can, too.
House fires. Car wrecks. Medical emergencies. Hazardous materials calls. Bernalillo Fire and Rescue answers more than 2,500 of these calls every year, working alongside neighboring departments.
Monday this week we broke ground on a new fire station for these hard-working crews: living quarters, training rooms, and three truck bays on the old Roosevelt Elementary site.
Thank you to Mayor Torres, Rep. Lente, Chief Estrada, and every firefighter in Bernalillo. 🚒

A heightened risk for flash flooding continues statewide today as a surge of monsoonal moisture brings widespread, rain and thunderstorms to New Mexico.
New Mexico first responders are working around the clock to help keep us safe but they need your help.
-If you're told to evacuate, go right away.
-Never walk or drive through flood water. Turn Around, Don't Drown.
-Never drive around barricades.

Universal coverage doesn’t mean free health care for everyone. It means making sure every New Mexican has an affordable way to access coverage.
In New Mexico,we have pulled every lever available to expand access and ensure that all New Mexicans can afford their health care premium.
As a result, New Mexico was the only state in the nation this year to see an enrollment increase on our state exchange, BeWell.
Affordable access to health care is a human right. In New Mexico, we’re committed to protecting it for generations to come.
It's 9/25. 9 to 5 day. And in New Mexico, I have proclaimed it Dolly Parton Day.
Artist Melanie Posner just finished this beautiful mural of Dolly in Hobbs: instagram.com/therealmelpoz?…
Dolly worked overtime for New Mexico kids. Her Imagination Library started in Grant County in 2010 with just 8 children. Today it reaches more than 32,000 kids in all 33 counties, with nearly 2 million free books delivered to every zip code in our state. In homes that get her books, daily reading nearly doubled.
Thank you, Dolly. 💛

New Census data shows our poverty rate is declining at three times the national rate. And when you account for programs that put money back in families’ pockets, New Mexico’s child poverty rate has fallen nearly in half — from 20.9% to 10.9%.
This hopeful news reflects choices we’ve made together: making college more affordable, cutting taxes for working families, expanding food and housing assistance and investing directly in New Mexico’s kids. And these numbers don’t yet reflect universal no-cost child care, which just launched last November.
